Rashard Mendenhall Suspended For One Game

Noone talks about his very productive history. Instead, Wallace keeps getting passed 2 as the balls bounce out of his hands and then he and Ben laugh about it.

Meanwhile, the running backs are playing musical chairs and getting benched.

 

Glad to hear someone else pointing this out... It's not just Tomlin. It's the members on this board, too. Certain players get a pass, and others do not. And if you point it out... WHOA HO HO, NELLIE!!!!!

In several other threads about the Mendy situation (going back a week or two) I've been posting vids of his history... with video proof of him charging up the middle, shaking off defenders and fighting for yards. People just ignored it. Actually the threads just died after I posted that stuff... and it was in multiple threads that I did it...

 

Are we serious with these quote pyramids??? You guys do know you can edit when you quote right? This thread is just about impossible to read now.

Real talk. I try to edit by removing most of the history once the discussion sub-thread gets too large.

 

I just don't understand what the hell Tomlin is doing. It seems that nobody is held accountable on this team for anything they do except the RB's. Not only are the RB's held accountable, but if anything Tomlin goes too far the other way trying to do so. Every RB is going to fumble from time to time, especially if you bring them in cold after missing most of the year with an injury. Benching a RB for 2 games because he fumbles is just insane. Make the guy carry a football around the facility, make him do drills with regards to holding onto the ball, bench him for a few players or a quarter, but my god, don't bench the guy for 2 games

I think maybe Tomlin actually feels Mendy gives us the best chance to win games.He provides elements the other guys just don't have. He is trying to motivate Mendy in anyway he can,unfortunately none of his tactics seem to be working. I don't think Tomlin has figured out how to get to him. Some guys just don't have the desire to do what it takes to be great. My hope is that the light finally goes on for Mendy and he really steps up his game. If we can get him performing to his ability it will go a long way in providing the team with what they need for a playoff push and beyond. Fingers crossed.

What would Belichek do? Probably the same thing he has done when Ridley fumbled earlier this year, put him back in and give him a chance to redeem himself. But who cares what Belichek would do, he's not running our team.

If Tomlin wants to hold someone accountable, then fine, but at least be consistent across the board.

 

An interesting couple of lines by Mendenhall in this short article which leads one to ask "chicken or the egg?" - did this attitude lead to Tomlin benching him? Or did Tomlin's displeasure at his "preparation" cause his attitude? In either case, I'd say it's pretty safe to say he doesn't expect to be here next season.

It's that exact thinking that the IRS has. "Can't pay your taxes? TO JAIL!" Well, you're definately not going to fixing your payment problems in jail. You gotta be out in the workforce to fix your productivity. Benching a RB the way Rashard was benched is insane. You gotta give him field time against teams that hit him hard and strip him with purpose. Not just against practice squads.

 

Good article. And I'm glad someone asked Mendenhall for his side of the story. I hope that the situation can be worked out... I hate to see him go, but if it's the best thing for him, then I wish him the best!
