Funny thing is, there was lots of talk that the offence was more effective when Murray was hurt as he wasn't the best fit for what the coaches wanted to do. I don't pay enough attention to that team to know if there's any truth to it, but have heard it said plenty and not just by fans. I heard Pat Kirwan make a slight reference to it once and he doesn't normally just spout off. If he says something, there's normally some truth to it.

People should had realized this when Cowher was overruled when he was HC.

You could be right. Murray's actual offense seemed to be trying to throw to Hopkins and scrambling. He did have the infamous clause to study more in his new contract before they removed it. I guess we'll see what the new HC and OC do with him.

The Ben pick? He was overruled by Rooney.

Otherwise we would have drafted a lineman instead of Ben.

    q
How many overrules happened over the years that were not spoke about? Owners have the final say an almost every decision an organization makes. Owners sign the checks.

They had Colt McCoy as their backup QB, his game isn't similar to Murray's.

I do remember the Steelers sending the Oilers players new briefcases for helping them get into the playoffs

Didn't the suitcase(brand slips my mind) get kicked for a field goal by an Oiler( name slips) in a commercial at that time too? LOL

No one is disputing that, no one ever said Cowher or Tomlin tells Rooneys what to do.

    It’s what Rooney said.

Cowher and Colbert had some reservations about Ben. Their first meeting wasn’t great but they were intrigued by his talent and had him out to the facility for a second meeting.

Still, Cowher believed they needed to fix the line.

    For your reading pleasure.

It’s not a misconception, it’s who do you want to believe.
