If Trub stays here for $10M+ that's a terrible mistake. Almost as bad as ever thinking Bush was going to work out here. That draft was wasted on that midget.

Agreed. There should be cheaper options available.

    Yes.
He was a very important part of the solution.
This Season he was incredible I feel. Some of his runs made me jump up and yell!
This Season the Oline started to come together.

I expect a dominant run game next season.

Mitch won't be back. He's expressed his disappointment with how he's been treated here. Unless Rooney sat him down and he did a 180 Mitch is gone. And no, i don't think he's a reliable backup. His three INT's against the Ravens doesn't show reliability.

Might not be a lie, might be how he feels but I don’t see Rooney overriding his GM to keep Trubisky around if Khan wants to go in a different direction. There are other options that would make more financial sense.

More than any of that though, the Steelers tend to give players what they want. If Trubisky wanted to be released, I don’t see Rooney saying no you will be our backup.

Did Rooney want Trub here and part of process bring him here?

Some of that is sunk cost. The decision is whether or not they spend $8 million to keep him, try to renegotiate, or just cut him loose and look elsewhere for their No. 2.

I'm going on the assumption that Rooney has already at least spoken with Khan and Tomlin about it. I'm guessing they talked to Trubisky before he headed out for the offseason. Maybe Trubisky makes a louder demand to go later, but it would have been foolish of them to not at least talk to him about what he wants going forward.

I doubt Rooney made that comment off the cuff.

They do have a disturbing history of giving players what they want. Maybe Khan will have the sense to change that.

Eventually the QB position will warrant that type of money.
    But not now.
    Use it somewhere else.

Or are they just keeping to a budget for that position?, which is wrong.

Washington, Carolina, Atlanta, Tampa Bay, New Orleans, Miami?, NY Jets, Baltimore?, Houston, Indy, Tennessee?, and Oakland are the QB needy teams. Brady and L. Jackson take a couple of those spots and Young, Stroud, and Levis take 3 spots, that leaves 7 possibilities. Teams with possible competitions may want to bring Trubisky in to compete, but none of those situations may be better than Pittsburgh. As posters have stated, it all depends on Trubisky's feelings. He may realize a Charlie Batch type backup role may be his best option.

With a solid downfield passing game and red zone efficiency. We have seen the dominate run game in the 2nd half thanks to Meyer. Balance...

I’m just happy Mike gets to make that coin while relaxing on vacation watching real teams play football. He deserves it.

Arizona could be a place for Trubisky to get playing time, Kyler Murray will be recovering from an ACL injury.

I'm pretty sure Tomlin had a lot of say about picking up Najee Harris. I think he's in love with the dude.

That being said I am actually patient with what Rooney said. I think Canada and Pickett will both grow together. I realize that is not a popular option.

As for Cam Heward and TJ Watt, you have arguably a tip 3 DL and pass rusher easy. Imo if you want good teams you need impact players and these two guys are just that.

I like Mitch but he needs to restructure if he wants to be #2

He really does. Avoidance is basically the same as anti-Trub to pretty much the entire NFL world except maybe a few anal retentive people.

That offense was built for Murray, seems like Mitch's skill is not a match.
