Im sure you have seen this around the league also but the rugby scrum if you will is pretty efficient in conversion % on short yardage plays.

Basically you line up two guys in a wishbone formation and then have your big RB and FB push your butt into the line.

I can see someone getting hurt and the competition committee doing away with it but it reminded me of the Fridge carrying a guy for a TD in the SB.

Very refreshing to see QB sneaks again.

Use to drive me crazy that they almost never ran QB sneaks when Ben was under center. Such a high percentage play, especially when it’s less than 1 yard. Loved seeing Harris pushing Pickett through the pile for a ginormous 1rst down.

I'm talking about once the Qb gets their 1 real contract. I would like to see our Qb make it that far.

Put in the tall backup. Seems like Brissett is pretty good at it.

The first time it happens to a franchise player they'll switch the rule back.

can we attribute this to Canada?

I mean, w Ben and LevBell and Co. we SUCKED at 3rd and 4th and short. SUCKED. Went shot-got, etc., and missed half the time

VERY REFRESHING to see us convert these regularly now....

For one thing that was a real problem the last 5 years.. short yardage has been a big improvement this year.

And for never having a 6 foot 5 QB, do a short yardage sneak... they do it all the time with Kenny.

Heck they were even doing it with Mitch too.

But also getting use out of the $3 million a season man Derek Watt as well....

Brissett is unstoppable on sneaks, but yeah, I can see them not wanting to risk their investment in Watson.

Pickett runs it well. Honestly, it does worry me a little, but I can't see them changing quarterbacks for short yardage plays. Part of what they do is hurry to the line and run short-yardage plays quickly. They have had great success doing it.

True, but I'm pretty sure he is protected by his deal with the devil. Seriously, is there any other way to explain his life? (Yeah, I know the supermodel is divorcing him. I also saw pictures of his new girlfriend. Wow.)

I'd rather see him do sneaks than get his bell rung on last minute throws in/out of the pocket.

I agree going quickly (not subbing) is a good strategy to prevent the D from bringing in the big boys

I believe the old rule was a player couldn't assist another player. I think I remember OL couldn't push a player like that back in the day.

Man I used to get so peeved how many times on short yardage we decided to throw the bomb, mind boggling at times! I thought I was the only one that ever felt that way of W H Y ? ? ?

Yep just looked it up, the rule changed in 2005 eliminating the penalty for pushing a player forward!! Another shot hurting the defenses.

I will remember this thread when a Qb gets hurt running it.
I guess everyone forgot about Mahomes dislocated knee cap from a QB sneak. You notice....He doesn't do them so much now. LoL.
Most Guys that are great pocket passers don't, but Brady....You can't use Brady...because Brady is the outlier of almost every situation.

I don't think they should be the short yardage play every time, but you have to be able to run it, especially when the ball is within inches of the line to gain.
