Don't know that I agree, particularly with those examples. The Colts and Broncos were each a mess of injuries and ineffectiveness this year, both with terrible QB acquisitions in the offseason. Both made late season changes at HC and have players toughing out injuries even though the playoffs had been stuck in the rear view, so they're still fighting for something - even if one argues its ownership trying to get back into the good graces of its disappointed fans.

Carolina started the season 1-5, struggling to find some kind of consistency at QB. Sure, they traded away their franchise RB and fired their HC, but in the meantime marched to a 7-9 record and still very much alive for a playoff spot - even the NFC South crown - when they traveled to Tampa Bay this weekend. The loss knocked them out of all contention.

How have the Dolphins and Titans stopped fighting? While both are on the skids of some major losing streaks, both are still in the thick of things as far as the playoffs go. Tua hasn't been right since the Sunday/Thursday concussion fiasco, and the Titans pivoted away from developing the future (Willis) and brought in Dobbs to try and help them stay afloat.

A better example might be a team like the Raiders. Announcing you're benching your longtime QB - who you extended in the offseason - to see what you have in your fourth-round pick from three years ago seems to me more yielding the fight this year and looking to the future.

No I don't think we're a weak team. In fact I think we have quite a bit of talent, more than many other teams.

Lets hope he wins COY. He's not deserving, we did lose 8 games to this point and have looked like hot garbage on offense for all but about four quarters.

Then, lets trade him. Some hapless team will give up multiple first round picks for him. Win-win for us. Good picks, take a shot at finding a coach that can actually win a playoff game and put a bit of fear if the opponent in January.

The hapless team can revel in 9-8 records and missing playoffs or making playoffs and losing by 30 points and point to the "improvement" and that fans should be happy we don't completely stink now.

Idk about CoY, but its definitely a great turnaround. It sucks that his best coaching feats are taking 2-6 teams (like this year and 2013) as well as the Deer/Duck year to 8-8. I would be way more impressed if we managed to win 11 games with this team and a playoff game... Then we can talk about CoY. Or if we took any of our uber talented teams in the mid 2010's to a SB victory..... But the team is young and has good talent. It shouldn't be a feat that we are .500 or slightly above (if we win next week).

Not even a little. Even I give you the 9-7 seasons there are still 10 years above that. You made an off the cuff statement that just isn’t rooted in reality. It comes from the mindless collective that March goose-step together in this idea of that all Tomlin wants to do is break 500 and then he barely does that most of the time. It’s just stupid and dead wrong. Dead wrong.

Not really a strange point at all, after all you’re the one who brought it up.
Your statement was false. Tomlin coached Steelers teams have finished 8–8 three times out of 15 years. That’s 20% of the time. That’s not most that’s least. I’m not really sure why some of you are so hung up on 8–8 especially since it’s only happened a few times. All other years have been better. It’s just plain silly.

Yeah, the whole "weak" team thing is weird. We have a young 1st round pick at QB and a lot of young players at skill positions, but Friermuth, Harris, DJ and Pickens is a talented group. AND that's not even mentioning that we have Watt, Minkah and Heyward together on defense. We have a talented enough team to be a double digit win team (and probably would be if Watt doesn't get hurt). This isn't a bare roster by a long shot

COY ? Lol. This is silly. We started the season with a veteran QB, talented WR’s, defensiveMVP , cam, etc. obviously this isn’t a superbowl team but to act like we are 7-8 with no talent is ridiculous.

is it one of his better coaching jobs? Sure. I’ll tip my cap to him for turning around a total collapse that would have got most coaches fired. Lets be honest jesus. COY would win the division. There’s been worse QBs than Mitch that have actually won their division.

Did I say any of that? You greatly over-exaggerated your statement about 8-8 seasons You got called out and proven inaccurate. Nothing more nothing less.

You’re tilting at windmills. The Steelers have more 12-4 seasons than 8-8 seasons during the Tomlin era. So why don’t you accuse him of that?
