I can't see the Steelers keeping him next year unless he accepts a huge paycut. All this trade did was eat up 2.7 million in cap space this year, which we could've otherwise rolled over to next year's cap space.

We don’t know what’s happening behind the scenes. If they cut him without trying to rework his deal it will definitely be a head scratcher.

I know exactly what's going to happen. Many people have said I'm psychic. Or was that psycho?

How is it a bad trade when they gave up nothing?

By taking the 2.7 million cap hit this year and getting nothing in return?

Ummmm he did. His first year he was a really good #2. Go look at pff grades. And like I have said, Jackson didn't want to stay there.

    Those are both facts.

So come on man, you're better than this and just sounding like you want to hate without knowing what you're talking about.

With him not playing, commanders have to pay 10.6 million next year.

Like I've said and what was reported at the start of this thread. Commanders pay 10.6 next year. As well they get no pick.

Maybe you don't understand with not doing it, that money still doesn't roll over. So it didn't hurt us.

The Steelers paid him 2.7 million this year. That's the prorated portion of his total 2022 salary. If we hadn't paid him that money we would've been an additional 2.7 million under the cap for 2022. The amount we're under the cap at the conclusion of this season rolls over towards next year's cap.

I do realize my figure of 2.7 million is off by probably a few hundred thousand due to displacement but I believe my reasoning is still valid. We still used cap space on him this year. That cap space would have otherwise been unused and rolled over to the next year. If I'm wrong please explain how. It wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong. Hell, I married my ex wife! But the way I understand the cap, this trade still cost us.

Yes. But only 10%ish rolls over.

I'm not worried about a couple million. Specially knowing trubisky wasn't going to hit his incentives.

Also if we do cut him, that opens up next year to a bigger gain than if we did not aquire him. Due to he would save us 12 million, and we are currently 17 million.

You really don't need to be worried about this. Steelers are not stupid like browns with their money.... and we don't let up a pick, even if he stays. And again CB is going to be our hardest position to fix. I hope we keep sutton, but I think he's well deserving of a 10-12 contract.
