WTAE is reporting Franco just passed away at age 72.

Just crazy as he was going to be honored on Saturday and his jersey to be retired. This is rather sudden.

Damn. Are we sure about this? I can't find it anywhere except the article on WTAE's website and people Tweeting off that link.

Wow.... I just saw him a few weeks ago.
Someone said he was feeling poorly. He did speak a little weak.
Harris and Lydell Mitchell were quite a pair for Joe Pa. (later in Business also)
Harris also got flak for supporting Joe... I do as well, and Penn State was the enemy. I have a lot to say on that one, some other day.
Dammit Franco, you were one of the good ones, this one hurts.

RIP Franco, I feel like somebody kicked me in the stomach. One of the greatest Steelers of all time. Not only was he a great football player, but such an ambassador of the Steelers
and the PGH region. He was also great around the community. He will be sadly missed.
