What needs to happen in Week 15 to keep that hope alive.

Key Games to pay attention to:

    1. We have to beat Panthers
    2. Lions need to beat Jets or Tie them
    3. Tennessee has to beat Chargers or Tie them
    4. Raiders beat Patriots or Tie them

If those 4 things happen this week we will be the #7 seed going into week 16.

How? There's 9 teams in the AFC with at least a 2 game lead on us. Even if they all magically lost, we'd still be at least a game back of multiple teams. For the record, I do not believe this team will sniff the playoffs or is remotely good enough to compete with playoff teams.. but, I am curious how you came to your conclusion.

It’s mathematically impossible for us to be the #7 seed after this weekend.
    Steelers win 6-8
    Jets lose 7-7
    Chargers lose 7-7
    Patriots lose 7-7

Correction, we won’t be in #7 after this weekend, but those are the key games to watch.

Definitely all 3 are very important games for our chances. I’ve played around with various playoff simulators on the web, and it’s pretty hard to come up with a combination of game outcomes over the next 4 weeks that gets the Steelers in at 9-8. We’re on the short end of too many tiebreakers. To have a shot we basically need the Patriots, Jets and Chargers to all go 1-3 or worse down the stretch. There are other combos including the Dolphins going 0-4 that would help too, but that’s not likely.

538.com gives the Steelers a 0.2% chance of making the playoffs. 1 in 500. Even if you get them to 9-8, their chances only increase to 5%. Meaning that the Steelers need to win out, and hope that everybody else loses for 4 straight weeks. A very tall order.

the problem is even at 9-8, the Steelers are in bad position and lose Tiebreakers to almost everyone.

Right now Indy, Den and Hou will all finish worse than 9-8.
At 9-8, the Steelers will have beaten LV and Clev - they’ll be worse than 9-8
Buff, KC and Balt can’t be caught.

Of the remaining teams, if they and the Steelers finish 9-8:
Mia. - head to head win and at least 6 conf wins
NYJ - head to head and at least 5 conf wins
NE - head to head and 7 conf wins
Tn - at least 6 conf wins
    Jax - 8 conf wins
LAC - at least 6 conf wins

The Steelers with 5 conf wins lose a 2-way or 3-way tiebreak in every case.

however , the Steelers do hold a tiebreak edge on Cincy. If the Steelers win out and Cincy loses out. Both are 9-8, split head to head, but Pit will win the Div wins tie breaker 3 to 2.

If they somehow manage to get in, it will be one of the biggest sports miracles of this century.

Well since we are pipe dreaming. I believe the Steelers were the first 6 seed to win a SB winning 3 road games so might as well be first 7 seed:)

Not that he was setting it on fire at that moment but when Pickett went down our Playoff dreams went down to. We had to hit 10 wins. I actually had a sliver of hope we could do it.

We had our fortuitous playoff entry last year. I'm ok with accepting that's not happening again this year. Ben always had a flair for the dramatic, so it was fitting we made it in the way we did last year for his last run. This is not a playoff squad at all.

Everyone said it was impossible last year. No one thought the Jags could win week 17. No one thought the Steelers would win out. I believe. 9-8 and a wildcard.......I'll take it.

Before the Raven game I thought we had a chance to win out with the toughest one being at Raven land. Wish like hell Mitch would have played like he did today last week.

Aren't the Steelers officially eliminated? After loss to Ravens....it should be mathematically impossible for them to make playoffs....and thank the gods. Tired of all the one and dones.
