Why not ban trolls?

I can understand being frustrated with the teams performance but 3 people are obvious trolls. And it's making me not want to post here anymore. I left other forums due to not being enjoyable. But this one is heading that direction with 3 that are 100% trolls that are haters of the steelers.

They constantly look for attention and continue to bump their threads when it goes to page 2. As well bump old threads.... there's numerous good threads being bumped down.

This isn't against the mods. I like everyone of them. And seen how they stop a lot of issues. However this is out of hand with these 3.




I really wish there was a thing like reddit where you can vote down a thread or vote up a thread. And after so many votes down it is removed, and eventually results to where the person can't make a thread or comment.

 

No. I find them to be entertaining. This board would suck if everybody agreed all the time.

 

I don’t think SDOT is actually a troll. I find his posts irritating, but he’s been around here a while now and hasn’t always acted up.

I want a board full of Glemms then we would be 17-0 and champions every year at least in our minds.

 

At least 2 of them are fixtures here and add to the entertainment as far as I'm concerned. Your little poll here seems about as much a "look at me" type thread as their stuff. Maybe try the ignore button?

Publicly trying to get other long time MB members banned. Seems like a desperate cry for attention to me.

 

I say, leave things the way they are. It serves to remind us of how the education system of this country has failed so many people!

 

I see I am the subject of this post. For the record, I am all for banning trolls. However, I am not a troll by the definition of the word. Despite what you may think, I am actually a Steelers fan. I tend to be a negative person and the Steelers' performance this year has given me plenty to complain about.

Now if you dislike seeing negative posts about a poor performing football team I guess you can either (1) not read my posts or (2) call for a banning of negative opinions. I personally exercise option 1 when I see something I dislike, but it sounds like some of you are in favor of outright censorship rather than the exercise of freedom of speech + your own personal choice in choosing to read a topic or move on.

The irony is that I imagine many of the same people calling for a "ban on trolls" probably complain about unjust censorship on Twitter and other social media...

 

I'm not arguing for banning everybody, but you do go out of your way to start trouble and you do start many threads that say the same thing, so it is fair to call what you do trolling.

 

There's an "ignore" button for a reason. I think I've only ever used it with one person, so I have no idea if they even post here any more.

But the members you specified, while pretty annoying, I believe to be fans of the team, just extremely negative fans. And even negativity doesn't bother me, it's the incessant rehashing of the same old stuff over and over.

But it's easy enough to ignore it, or just chuckle at how ridiculous they are and move on.

 

I start many threads that are negative when the team plays poorly, yes. But my threads are never "about the same thing" and they are always Steelers related and on topic.

There are certain posters here who seem to think anything negative about a 2-5 team = trolling. To me, it's delusional to be all rainbows and sunshine when you're literally one of the worst teams in the NFL.

Originally, I thought there were 1 to 3 users that were using multiple log on's because the syntax and subjects of so many posts were pretty close.
But those in the know, killed my theory and I believe them, else I would be on another Steeler site.

That said, not many are writers and have limited skills for topic of discussions.
"The sky is falling" is easy and plays well to frustrated people.
Some are just airing out/venting the frustrations. Losing sucks.
Sometimes it is like watching your little brother get his @ss kicked by some bullies and you can't do anything about it.

I found the ignore button for those that just have no substance and just go on without any real logic.
Fortunately, there's only a couple... I've seen far worse.

So banning.. I don't know. I usually just don't bother and hope it dies on the vine.

Your history says other wise. And you have 4 threads on the front page all negative.

I didn't see you last week saying congrats on the win. In fact you went to being a ghost.

So I challenge you to prove me wrong.

 

Just sucks how many threads there are by these 3. Literally benny himself right now has 4 threads. They get where Good threads to read/discuss go to the second page.
