They just need todo away with the whole thing/ idea.. Just put a list of PB players out at the end of the season, and don't even pay them for it... Recognition should be enough...

Probably. I do like the skills competitions though. The game? Nah, not so much.

Pretty soon the teams that make it to the Superbowl will decide the game result with a best of 3 coin flip and then hand out participation trophies to every player in the league.

It used to be a nice reward for a good season. Do enough and get a free vacation to Hawaii after a long season of football. The game was never a serious affair more like a pickup game at the park where guys enjoy the last organized NFL activity. Then they took it out of Hawaii. Moved it the week before the SB which meant any player on the two SB teams couldn't play. Made it even more of a popularity contest and tried to market the heck out of it. It never was a big for the fans type event and has morphed away from that even more.

On a side note didn't Ben take the entire Oline with him one year while it was still in Hawaii?

I lived in Hawaii when the Aloha Stadium was being built to host the Pro Bowl. A radio station hosted a name the stadium thingy and I think 80-90 % said Aloha. I'm sure a lot has changed since the early 70's over there but I always remember the LA Rams being the NFL favorite of a lot of the locals. The locals were pretty excited about seeing the best in the game every year. Probably be sad now to watch touch football.

Fun fact: (at least best I remember) The local mafia was invested in the project. They tended to be mean ugly looking guys. Use to see them protecting their interest in Waikiki amid the high end ladies of the evening. Anyhow, I think at least 4 people (mob guys) were murdered during construction.

In 1974 a high end lady was getting 125.00. I never could afford that scene but we loved to hang out down there when conventions came to town. These were attractive young girls, found out most where going to U of Hawaii. I'm assuming a situation like that in 2022 would command 1000.00 - 1500.00???

I don't think they have gone to Hawaii for 7-8 years. I never watched the Pro Bowl but felt a twinge of sadness when the NFC would win.

Pretty cool story on the mob guys, that's funny.

So, what were the low end ladies getting in 1974? Don't act like you don't know! ;) I like that the only thing apparently stopping you was that they were out of your price range.

Actually I was dead broke in Hawaii. It was in Europe that I dabbled in the arts. Wasn't a big fan but it was where I learned you get what you pay for:)

Sure has. If they did a poll today, the winner would be something like Bowly McBowlface

Baseball's All-Star game used to be the best of them all. Hell, I think Dan Fouts was the starter for the AFC the last time I watched any portion of that game.

My memory gets foggy sometimes but I think I watched one year where Lloyd and Kirkland were in it and I wanted to see if Lloyd took it easy. I'm pretty sure he did everything short of knocking guys out.
