I'm curious to see how much of the playbook Matt couldn't show last year, due to having to adjust for Big Ben.

Also to me it looks like he has 3 QB that area similar to being mobile. They all can role out and make plays, run, etc. Yet their not a full blown mobile QB like Vick, Newton, RG3 are.

I've heard tell he likes lots of motion and with 2 QB'S that are more mobile he can get creative with jet sweeps and reverses than he could with Ben. If we don't see any of that I'd say the coach put the kibosh on it.

We saw some of it in the preseason, the QBs did some roll outs, and threw the ball to the middle of the field.

Roll outs are for tricks, change ups, or Qbs that can't read a whole field.
Also We ran Roll outs last year if people watched the games.

I think roll outs are for teams with weak lines. The QB has to be move around to avoid getting killed.

I think turd sandwich fits best in this scenario. Seriously though I am slightly optimistic we might see some play action. Effectively running the ball would help.

A roll out is also used to pressure a defense by putting a mobile QB on the edge and forcing the flat defenders to choose between coverage and coming up to stop the QB run.

"Adjusting" for Big Ben, that's not really adjusting. Ben is less mobile, but the offense doesn't really change. Ben just can't buy those extra moments with his legs.
"Rollouts" remove half the field of vision. The QB's reads all from center to the side they roll to. They "flood" that side with receivers or the threat of a run forces a defender to make a decision to cover or run defend.

This offense will be predicated on quick throws to get the ball into the hands of runners in an open field condition.
Some will call these "check down" throws but they are really just extended hand offs, safe high percentage passing that put the runner in the best position.
Off of those calls, Canada definitely wants the QB to strike with the deep ball.
The short game, combined with Harris versatility in running the ball, forces the defense to play up in the box and single deep (Safeties) which they can attack deep with speedy WR's.

A "Balanced Attack" here is not 50/50 run/pass. As I said, a lot of passing is basically extended runs, so what they want is a threat from the short game and create hesitation by the defense to hit those deep throws. A mobile QB can either hurt the defense if they do not account for him, or he can buy extra time by scrambling, and keeps pressure on the defense for those same reasons.

Additionally, ideally, he wants to help the defense out by scoring TD's on offense and forcing the other team to take risks.... (think KC)

On paper, the Steelers look decent, but we've seen the offensive line under perform and some dicey secondary play on the defense.
Hopefully, they work those kinks out.

I believe his play calling and OL play will make or break our season. Along with staying healthy.
If he calls good games (puts players in position to succeed to make plays) and continued improvement of OL
we can compete for playoff spot.

Yes ....sometimes, but what a lot of people don't understand is....it also cuts down half the field for the D ....if used 2 much.....it becomes a hindrance, and not a surprise, or helpful. There is a reason all the way back in school they use it, and the better a Qb reads a field....the less it's used. Also some people I have found tend 2 not know the difference from a designed roll out , and a Qb rolling out on their own.

I watched most of their games, and I sure don't remember Ben doing any roll outs.

Would You like 2 put some money on that???
Not only did they run roll out with Him .....He was like over 80 percent on those passes.
Also it was almost every time 2 the right.

Even if they did, I think those plays will be more effective this season, they have two QBs with better mobility and these guys will throw the ball to the middle of the field .

Quit judging, I'm still trying to figure out the reason for the bubble pass 25x a game.
