I have to come to Pittsburgh Sept 10 for a course. Unfortunately the Steelers aren't in town that weekend, but I'll still go catch the game somewhere. I'm going to arrive on the Friday and probably leave Monday.

Sunday morning at 8 am I have to be in Bethal Park but it looks pretty close to the downtown core. So I'm looking for a good place to stay that isn't crazy expensive but also gives me the luxury of walking, catching transit or taking a cab/uber. I'll be on a motorcycle so don't really want to ride it around the downtown core. Would prefer to park it at the hotel and leave it as much as possible.

Also looking for a good place to watch the game.

    Thanks

I would think a motorcycle would be an excellent way to get around.
McFaddens on the North Shore is a place I have hung out and watched the earlier games when the Steelers played later. It was pretty good. I’ve also watched other games at a couple of the Primanti locations, Shales Cafe, Slick’s bar and at Quaker Steak and Lube. All good experience’s

I'd check out a neighborhood bar in the Bethel Park, Upper St. Clair, Mt Lebo area. Rt 88 through Castle Shannon you could find a gem. I don't think people truly experience Pittsburgh going to the more popular jawns. Dives are the way to go, and you'll definitely still see a ton of Steelers fans.

Like Animus said, South Hills is OK. Mt Lebanon and Dormont are also options. Traffic can be bad
in SH pretty ****ty roadways too.

Good hotel in Bethel Park, The crown Plazza, right across the street from South Hills Village Mall. T stop is right behind the Mall.

As much as the boys suck if I lived in the Burgh I'd go to a lot of games just because of the awesome setting that is PNC Park.

Say Shaner - aren't you from across the pond? On a motorcycle? Evil Knievel was a woos. Enjoy - be safe. Castle Shannon/Bethel Park were my teenage stomping grounds way back before electricity was discovered.

I guess its all relative to what you're used to, but Bethel Park imo is not near downtown in the least.

And also, depending on times your traveling, hard to get from BP to DT via 88-51 horrible roads. true bottle necks.

Yeah, 8 AM on a Sunday is not going to be an issue, but you're correct.

I checked the Googles (7:15 Am) and it said that BP to Downtown was a 29 min drive. That compares to 22 min from Wexford to DT and 25 min from Monroeville to DT. I don't think anyone would consider Wexford or Monroeville close to DT.

Getting in from Wexford is an easy drive

    No tunnels

You may be able to take the T/Subway from BP or close by (Bethel Village?)

That would either drop you off downtown or over by the stadiums

Look for a hotel close to one of the stations

It appears red or blue line will work

Love that picture. Somehow I am 3-1 for the games I've been back for. My favorite trip the Steelers beat my arch enemies the Eagles in pre-season (My fellow Steeler fans in community are already in fear for Oct. 30th) and Pirates won 2 games I went to.

Take your bike up to Mt Washington for the views or park it at Station Square and ride the inclines up and back. Well worth the sight seeing for that.

Bridgeville has the Burgh Restaurant right off of I-79 close to Bethel Park. Have to go through Upper St. Clair to get there but if you GPS it's a quick shot. Pizza and Wing sports bar/restaurant. Very good. Kenny Wregget's (Penguins Goalie) 31 Bar and Grille is right there as well about a mile up the street and an excellent place to catch great live music on weekends.

Bridgeville also has plenty of hotels with reasonable rates that is very close to Bethel Park and a heck of a lot easier to get to Dawntawn. I honestly don't even think BP has any hotels actually. You will also get to travel thru the Ft. Pitt Tunnels if heading there. Follow signs to Strip District for Steelers Merchandise heaven!

From Bethel Park you have 3 options to dahntahn, and all of them suck. You can take 19 to the Parkway merge at the tunnel; you can take BUS 19 through Mt. Lebo and Dormont; or you can take 88 through Mt Lebo and Castle Shannon then to 51. All red lights with people parking in the right lane at sporadic spots yada. Better off taking the super unreliable T.

I highly recommend 31 Bar n Grille. I think that jahn in the Icoplex is still open. Pens no longer practice there, but the food was amazing.

In that case, there's a couple of nice jahns dahn there in Carnegie to check out. Riley's Pour House is a decent Irish bar; I recommend checking it out for lunch. Cantley's Nightlife is a decent sports bar. It's a little divey and a younger crowd in the evening. But a solid spot to toss back a few after a feast at Riley's. Both are on Main Street in Carnegie. From there check out the spots recommended earlier in the thread.
