A rumor is floating that Kahn is GM in name...He will handle the money side of the operations and Weidl more of the scouting / evaluating side...

Now, if this is true...It makes a ton of sense, and I love it

Really thought it would end up being Brandon Hunt and I think he was really strongly considered. I felt like this was Hunt vs Omar deal from the beginning.

I'm not surprised that its Omar. In todays era of NFL football you got to know how to work that salary cap to the best of its ability. Omar is the man when it comes to that.

Andy Weidl coming in for the scouting side and assistant GM spot. His younger brother was also a scout with the Eagles. Good chance he probably comes aboard in come capacity as well.

Glad for Omar, that guy interviewed a lot of times with a lot of teams but was never offered a GM job, looks like he will get his chance. He put his hard work and time in.

All you got to do is win and everyone will get on board with you Omar. Best of luck!

    Omar will be the GM.
I'm not sure what is up with Hunt, if he actually feels smitten. Correction: Slighted
He's very good in the organization and I am a little surprised someone hasn't jumped on the opportunity to hire him.
If I am Pittsburgh, I would look to find a way to fit him in as Hunt and Omar are a good team match.
I liked and appreciated the search; I certainly agree it was no easy thing.

Khan may be a cap guy, but as others keep pointing out, he did start as a scout. It's not as if he doesn't know that part of the job, too. He does.

That was more of a word-choice monitor, but okay. I really was confused what you meant when I first read it.

He could, but he might want to leave feeling he got passed over.

?? What's that mean kahn is GM in name only? Weidl and Tomlin doing the drafting?..... .. Looks like Hunt may have gotten pissed over the hiring and said Fu i'm out

Kahn has a scouting background too, he will still be involved in personnel and the cap.

I remember Omar from back in the Saints days when he had hair.
He's been here forever, I forget when the got him from the Saints, maybe 2002 or 01 or maybe 2000... not sure and not going to look it up.
But he's been under Colbert for a long time and moved up.
I like the Steelers did look around, I liked the process.
Brandon Hunt is a guy I like, but doesn't have the resume. It would be nice to have him though.
Andy Weidl is a Ravens guy and they have always done well with regards to personnel.
    He should fill Omars shoes.
The other guy Sheldon White comes from the Lions, who suck big time regarding personnel. He's supposed to assist Weidl which is probably a good thing.
Omar will be doing his thing, working the cap etc but still involved.. and Colbert is still an advisor.

So they are set up nicely.

Sheldon White and Kevin Colbert worked together in Detroit. I'm guessing it's no coincidence that he's here in Pittsburgh now.

He may have a scouting background. But it doesn't mean he was any good at it
..if the Steelers had confidence he was 100% GM's material they wouldn't be bringing others in
    ..jmo

Well... if it is any indication... Andy Weidl has been signed on as a Assistant GM. Takes some pressure off of Kahn while also giving Kahn someone who will let him hear what he needs to know as opposed to wants to. Do not forget that Colbert is not fully retired from the team either.

Yes... as a GM, his career is finished. However, as far as assistance for the team?! Not done just yet!
