Come on blast, I live in Amish country and horses never let you down. His rep should have hired a buggy..no excuses.

 

I doubt he would sign for that low of amount, if the Steelers don't pay him, some other team will.

 

Obviously what all of this comes down to is trust and faith.

Do you have faith in this guy? Should the Steelers invest a lot of money and years into this guy. I think it's a valid concern.

When the Steelers extended AB for 15 million a year, nobody blinked. Pay, the man. He's the best.

But, Frankly, I don't trust DJ to be "the man" for the next 5 years. He's a good wr but does he deserve "great" money? Not IMO.

like any market the WR will settle. Their will be those who are good enough to set the new highest paid claim, but also many that are just very good. I agree though thst DJ will likely command a higher rate. I was hoping for 15 earlier this year, but with a good year 20 or even more is something he will likely get

Soooo they get a free event in the future. Is that code for they don’t get the money back for the event he didn’t show up for? Is he being generous if they have to pay in full the first time but the kids have to show up twice?

 

Being generous would be giving their money back and giving them a free event. Barry Sanders use to do free appearances all the time for kids. Just saying maybe 10’s of millions is enough. He hasn’t earned much yet but it’s coming (hopefully not in Pittsburgh). He looks really good because he is out shining Claypool that’s not much of a hurdle

 

That is a good question. You are right. He should refund the money and offer them a free event.

Sounds like this camp was a real **** show. All these kids got out of their parents $125 was a lousy t-shirt with DJ's name spelled wrong.

Money back and a free event is the only way to make this right.

Well he hasn't shown up for OTA either. And could be a hold out. I like DJ and would like to see him stay but, he is not worth 18 to 20 mill. Pickins was drafted and will take his spot next season.

 

I think @mac daddyo was responsible for designing those shirts.

 

The bitter irony is that Diontae is misspelled in the thread title. I think Disco is responsible for those shirts.

 

On Friday, The Athletic’s Mark Kaboly reported that Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson is unhappy with his contract situation, which has led to Johnson sitting out of Pittsburgh’s OTAs. According to Kaboly, Johnson has very little leverage so he is trying to as much as he can to gain the upper hand in negotiations.

Johnson himself decided to respond to the report himself. The fourth-year wide receiver took to Twitter to essentially give a no comment on the situation.

 

He can be unhappy if he wants to be. He's easily replaceable, and his replacement is likely on the roster already. Getting Fitzpatrick re-signed is far more important for the short and long-term. If the Dolphins or some other team wants to overpay him, so be it.
