It appears that the competition for starting Center is off to a hot start

It has been now reported that both Dotson and Green are locked into battle for the Left Guard position; just as @jeh1856 predicted all along. Should be a good one to watch overall as the Pre Season gets closer and closer. May the best man win.

This shouldn't be a surprise, honestly. Green was horrible at C last year and hardly played C in college. His best bet for success in the NFL is at G.

I think the battle will be between J.C. Hassenauer and Kendrick Green to see who gets that backup C/G position that the Steelers have always valued so much. This is a guy that doesn't get to be promoted to a starting G position, because they like to keep his available in case their starting center does go down. BJ Finney had this role for 4 years and last year it was Hassenauer's roll.

It's great building some utility depth.

I'm afraid that Green's physical limitations will keep him from being a quality starter. Can he be serviceable? With the proper training, I suppose.

He has a horrible trait for OL, short arms. He needs to learn that one arm is longer than two. He needs to get stronger. I pray to god Munch comes back.

Maybe if you get him in space, he can use his attributes, agility, and ferocity .

    He's not.

Green is a guard. He was pushed backward so many times playing center it was nauseating! It baffles me how long they let him go before putting Hassenauer in who played respectable. I feel Green won't be sniffing the center position more like a back up guard. Cole will start with Hassenauer as his back up.

Webster, Hartings, (another lucky guy to get out of Detroit and get a Ring) Mansfield, Pouncey, and Dawson.

It just seems the Pittsburgh Steelers should have a great center anchoring the O-line. Whoever is under center next season would be a lot more confident if he was smacking the nuts of one of the above mentioned.

Technique Technique Technique...Green is plenty big enough, and holds the weightlifting records at Illinois...Him getting constantly pushed back HAS TO BE technique

Green had to start at center not really because the Steelers wanted to start him but they didn't really have much of choice not to.

He may be better suited at Guard, but he may still have hope to catch on at Center.

It wasn't pretty, think he just needs to learn better leverage with his strength, so he doesn't get bowled over and blown back by really good DT's.

cracks me up seeing fans ***** about green’s arm length in one sentence and talk about pouncey in the next. There is 1/4” difference in their arm lengths. :lolol:
