That's pretty cool for them to do that. I've never watched a single hockey game in my life but that is a great tribute the Penguins did for Ben.

No, I tried to watch a hockey game back when Lemieux was playing but I just couldn't get interested in it. I never played the game so I didn't understand all the rules and strategy so I never watched it again but I am glad when they win the Stanley Cup because it is great for the city.

Mario and Jagr were a bridge for my growing up a hockey town and hating the sport, to be a life long fan and advocate to look beyond the stereotypes about hockey and hockey players.

We were not a well to do family so when we got a box of winter hand me downs from our cousins one year with two pair of black figure skates my older brother and I were excited. Unfortunately hockey towns produce mean hockey kids. Got made fun of at the park and never went back. Hated hockey and the kids I went to school with for years. Then 91 and 92 Cup run and watching Mario and Jagr create some just beautiful goals seemed to make those kids in my memory not matter and started roller blading and playing .

I might have to try that. Also the Penguins didn't even exist until I was around 12 years old. The Pittsburgh Hornets played in the AHL but they were never on TV and no one I knew then ever talked about them. I had zero exposure to hockey growing up.

This is completely off topic but during the game I saw a commercial for PNC Park, not the team that plays there, but the stadium and all the fun things that you can do there without mentioning said team. Could you imagine if the Steelers were that pathetic a franchise?

Nice. I wanted to go to the game.
I'm not a hockey fan either but love the Pens
I have no idea what they are doing, just know the puck goes in the net
    Being there is best.

Shame they lost that game. In the 70's with the Steelers and Pirates representing the Burgh with a lot of class, I never thought the Penguins would ever be the best Pro sports team in the Burgh but they are.

Even minor league hockey live can be a great experience. Have been to several Hershey Bears games and Erie has the lower level Ontario Hockey league (like a rookie league) and the quality of play has been fun to watch.

I agree and going to a live game got my picture in SI. Never would have known if my nephew hadn't picked it up in a doctor office, leafed threw it and saw me. Thankfully he took it:) Only problem it's cover was the Patriots first Super Bowl win:(

Me and friend (female) had front row seats right behind glass. Didn't know but SI had a guy there taking pictures. There I am in the background. Was PEN/flyer game in Philly. Sadly we lost. Good thing I was not cheating on my wife. (it was a co-worker) Would have been an amazing way for a marriage to end.

As Rusty said to Clark in Vacation after Daddy Grizzwald was splashing around in the pool with Christie Brinkley: " Sounds good. You think Mom will buy it?"
