No Hard Knocks for Steelers this year.

So our annual thread of if Pittsburgh gets chosen for Hard Knocks will be earlier this year. HBO and the NFL gave announced that the show will feature the Lions training camp. At some point the Steelers will be forced to take part but unfortunately not this year.

 

I don't think the Steelers were even eligible this year, because they made the Playoffs.

 

Those sorta details never seem to matter when this topic comes up believe me. Whether or not they can be chosen is secondary to the distraction it causes to a lot of members. I love the show and would watch it if the Steelers were on it, or even if they aren't. Sadly that is a small minority opinion.

 

Wow...rating will be through the roof to see the inner working of the amazing Lions franchise.

 

A bit of a shame that the Browns made the playoffs last year the season before last (for the first time in 18 years).
I'm sure Hard Knocks would love to cover the circus when Watson rolls into town.

 

I've never ever watched the show. I would if it was the Steelers, but the catch is....I don't ever want it 2 be the Steelers. So...

Rules that go into the decision-making process when it comes to picking the upcoming season’s featured team. The criteria has three simple prerequisites:

• No teams who were in the playoffs in the last two seasons
• No teams with a first-year head coach
• No teams which have been featured on “Hard Knocks” in the last 10 years

 

interesting. I wonder why it’s two seasons?

 

With the way the NFL operates a good team can miss the playoffs in any given year, 2 times in a row it's probably not a playoff team or in a rebuild.

 

Honestly I don't even know if I get HBO. For the price I pay I should.

Curious question..... Has a team that ever been featured on Hard Knocks ever won a Superbowl?

I have Direct TV and I throw a ton of money away every season to watch 4 maybe 5 Steelers games. The rest are Nationally televised.

 

Same..., but if I didn't get 2 see those games as they played.....I'd be pissed.....So

 

Winning a SB that season is quite a high threshold.

There are teams that reached the playoffs that season, after years of ineptitude.
Houston won their division in 2015.
Last year, the Cowboys won their division going 12-5 (after going 8-8 and 6-10 previously).

 

I'd spend a lot more money in a sports bar eating wings and drinking a few beers. I hate paying it for those few games but it beats the alternative. Especially considering any risk factor. Wife would pick me up if I asked but my bravery would probably speak to me in a different fashion.

 

There are rumors about Apple making a play for NFL direct ticket and I'm all for that.

I liked the in season one with the colts even better than pre season. Last episode was cool when the coaches were trying to sell the players that they better take the jags on the road seriously or they will lose. Coaches did Everything they could but players thought it was a gimme and they got rocked
