What the? That kind of thought is damn near against the rules, LOL.

Another pitfall is all this talk if Mayfield is dumped, he will certainly be scooped up by us.

I think we are smarter than the "sports analysts."

Does not surprise me, WR is the hot position after QB right now. Someone may bite, but I doubt it. The market will ultimately set the market but it will be interesting to see how many 30 million WR there will be. I just do not see a team being competitive long term with a 50 million QB and 30 million WR.

We still have the draft. and we may sign someone who becomes available after the draft. The roster is still a work in progress. Take a deep breath.

Landry is a possession WR, he averages about 8-9 yards a catch, he's not worth 20 million a year especially after a down season in 2021.

My concern is them not having that many draft picks, but they might have to use two of them on WR.

It's why I would trade back in the 1st this year for at least another pick....possibly two more. Lot of holes still 2 fill.

Right trading partner needed of course, but I agree. Do not want to trade out of first as that 5th year option is really an inexpensive bridge on a lower 1st round pick, do not know of moving back a few spots warrants a 3rd. But should be able to get a 4th or high 5th.

Right now I don't have a clue who is the leader of the WR group? New coach this year in Jackson is a question mark, but does have NFL WR coaching experience. Both Jackson and RB coach Eddie Faulkner worked under Canada at NC State.

I still would have loved to see the Steelers kick the tires on Hines Ward for the WR Coach, after Ward was finished interviewing for the Houston Texans Head coaching job. :)

I guess Matt Canda was bringing in the WR coach he wanted and maybe he is little responsible for getting rid of JuJu / Washington / McCloud.

Funny you can also add new Offensive Line coach Pat Meyer to the list of offensive coaches that have spent time coaching at NC State.

They have a problem that must be addressed with impactful results, They need
the production from this WR draft pick or FA.

There are teams in this league that make stupid moves every year. Just the way it is. So he may indeed find one to give him that amount, or close to it. But with the plethora of receiving talent in this draft class, most/all teams would have to be in "stupid mode" to give him that much money, certainly BEFORE the draft plays out, anyway.

Word is this is one of the heaviest receiver drafts in a while. Steelers are the greatest drafters of receivers. I am sure the Steelers fully expect to get 2 out of this draft that will be productive out the gate.

Steelers will likely draft the BPA at OT or DL with that 20th pick. Unless, Willis or Pickett are there, then I'm going to be curious how they go on that one. Should be the most anticipating draft for Steelers fans since 2004.

You mean the Steelers use 2 be good at Drafting Wrs.....which is easy 2 do with HOF Qbs.....don't believe Me.....look at any HOF Qb , and see how great their Drafting of Wrs was....then look at those same teams after their HOF QB leave....all of a sudden Drafting Wrs doesn't look so good. Go Look, and see what I mean.

Yeah Pro Football Network predicted that 42 WR would be drafted this year. That's 6 per round, that's a deep draft for receivers.

Are we sure DJ is a receiver? Bc he drops more passes than he catches. We might have the worst WR group in the league at the moment.

I hate to say it (not really), but wasn't just three months ago how some here were saying that WR was a strength? Now we're talking we might need to use two draft picks on wideouts? LOL.

I tried to tell yinz that our wide receiver corps was mediocre. Given what seems like the FO's lack of enthusiasm to re-signing these guys it would seems like the Steelers brass agreed and would prefer to take their chances with the draft. Sort of says it all.

    Yes.
Next Year. Build the team as much as possible this year, and draft a Qb next.
No Qb drafted is for sure, but some coming out next year don't have as many holes in their game as the ones coming this year.

My impression is that the Steelers are doing business as usual.

WRs are expensive for their second contracts.
To keep the cap under control, they have one receiver who gets multiple contracts (like Ward or Brown), an older player on vet min to mentor the young receivers (Heyward-Bey), and the rest are on their rookie contracts.

Think about how many receivers were on the team only for their first 4 years (Holmes, Wallace, Sanders, Bryant, Wheaton) or 5 years (Burress).

We are talking about them drafting multiple wide receivers because they lost three of them to free agency.

One in the draft might be nice

I don’t see the need to draft someone to be 4-5

Players will be cut come July if not sooner

Probably. One way or another, they need to acquire at least two more who will contribute before the season starts.
