Davis (likely not available) would be great. I too am in the CB camp (probably prefer Booth of the group), or Lloyd if he's available. Also big on the Garrett Wilson train. TBH I think a OG in round 1 would be an absolute waste since we just got Daniels, have Cole, Green, Dotson, Leglue etc as all G capable. Dotson and Daniels are a solid tandem. I think the little C from Iowa would be a waste too. That's just a position we can fix in FA and do so fairly cheaply. He would have to be Pouncey level good to make it worth it and I just dont see that happening. Tackle I could get on board with if they fall in love with a guy there. Still the looming QB option too. Lots of ways it could break.

    :hmm:

Strongly disagree on bringing the house being overrated. For that matter, that statement simply is not true. If this were the case, players like Darius Leonard would be on the team and there is no guarantee that he would have panned out to begin with.

Since 2010, players drafted within the first two rounds have had a major presence from the team at their Pro Day. From Maurkice Pouncey to Najee Harris, the team will draft whomever they not only have rated as the highest on their board but also which prospect has garnered the most attention from both Steelers Coaches and Front Office. For that matter, since 2019, the Steelers have drafted team mates from the same college while having that same presence. I do realize that this is me literally :beathorse: every year but the fact remains is that the team does not want another Ziggy Hood. All bases for team needs must be covered.

In short?! Whichever prospect yields the highest attention to the Steelers is likely in play for Round One... provided that prospect is rated high enough to warrant a First Round selection on the teams board. That is not changing anytime soon; post Kevin Colbert Era included.

No. Defense in the 1st three rounds at least. LoL 92% of Wrs are made by their Qbs.....remember I said 92%....so not all..... You can look through the History of football at this.
It's why certain Qbs...just never seem 2 have weapons, and others have weapons no matter what round they are picked, and make them work.
Nobody is going 2 make our D better, but better D players. JMO.

Willis should be the pick at 20. I would be OK with trading up to the top 10 to make sure we get him.

don't want another ziggy hood? terrell edmunds? devon bush? of course you will send everyone to guys you covet highly. i'm saying in the case of which places they are at that are in close proximity to them and major contenders every year, yes they will be there. ohio state, WVU, Michigan. Georgia and bama are not close but well represented because they bring in the biggest blue chippers in the nation every year. of course they go to those pro days. why wouldn't they?

tomlin has been on willis since the start. that's there guy.

if you look at who they have met with, they have set up guys throughout the draft that will or should be there when they pick. the big board is probably already made up but a last look confirms it.

I agree that it is a tell regarding what the team is thinking, but it is absolutely ridiculous to claim that the team can't draft a player simply because they had little or even no presence at the pro day. Sure they can. There is plenty of information available.

Also, I see what you did there with Leonard. It is patently ridiculous that anybody around here still tries to suggest that he might not have panned out if the Steelers had taken him. If they can't make it work with a guy who has been an All-Pro since his rookie season, the entire coaching staff needs to be fired.

That speaks to what they are likely to do, not what they should do. Their way failed them when they took Edmunds over Leonard, to add another swing at the dead horse.

That dead horse has been beaten so much that its remains are spread over several square miles.

I will run naked through the streets if Davis falls to the Steelers. The man is a beast and a three down player.

What they should do is stick to the board they spent a year constructing. Who they spend the most time with at pro days is the end of that process and who they already locked in on.

Every team has misses. Steelers overall have drafted very well. Their way also landed them Watt and Harris when many said they shouldn’t be taken in the first.

Watt and Harris had game tape worthy of their draft positions. I didn’t want Harris because I think that a RB is the last piece that you add, not the first, but he was very good at Alabama. There’s no debating that.

Lot of people were against taking Watt, saying he didn’t have enough experience at the position. His play and pedigree made it was a no brainer for me.

I was one of those. It was lack of exp and a knee injury. So incredibly happy to be wrong.

He's my favorite too. If he is there at #20 and the Steelers pick someone like Matt Corral, I might have to be institutionalized.

If he’s there at 20 and they pick just about anyone else I will blow a gasket. Lord forbid if it’s any of those quarterbacks

They will let Bush play out his 4th season, if he doesn't show improvement he won't be back in 2023.

He might get benched and replaced by a draft pick. Maybe not first round but second or third, we'll see. It depends on the player but the opportunity for a rookie to unseat Bush is there.

Shoot....I freaking wanted Watt....the only reason I didn't want N. Harris was because He was a RB, and I still don't like the idea of drafting a Wr, or a RB 1st round.....not because He wasn't good.
I don't want these Qbs because....Picketts hand that grow all of a sudden .....Hell if it keeps on He may have hands so big He can't throw a football anymore, and the others... 2 a man are projects. When has a project taken by us in the 1st round worked???

The NFL Network is doing their live mock draft now. At #20 they had the Steelers taking CB Derek Stingley. Jordan Davis gone to the Vikings at #12. Through 24 picks only one QB taken, Pickett to the Saints.
