    For you it’s management/ownership.
All I can figure is you must me pretty low on the totem pole at your job? That’s the only thing that could explain your disdain.

Thanks. Well, just to be a nitpick, when people have repeatedly used the franchise quarterback phrase, I’ve repeatedly asked them to define the phrase, none obliged.

With a reduced salary cap, they couldn't keep everybody, no way would they pay 6 million a year to a slot CB.

I've made mention and shown multiple times on here that there have been many teams that didnt even make the playoffs the year before they showed up in the SB which would include this years Bengals and last years champions the Bucs. Here you have a Steelers team that went 9-7-1 in essentially rebuild mode. They are missing a QB and as far as I'm concerned solid #1 WR. The Bengals OL should give people hope (as bad as they were) concerning the Steelers OL. The OL here will be much better not worse then the unit we saw this year...on defense they need a MILB (or two) that can cover and help with the run.

When you pick in the top 10 every year, you're bound to start winning sooner or later.

    Indeed.

That said, has Mike Brown gotten over his usual "cost efficient" strategy and to see that spending on Free Agent players does increase the chances of success; doubly so with a Franchise QB in tow? Time will tell on him for certain; particular in Jessie Bates III's case.

Too bad they didn’t give the effort here. Sometimes they need a wake up call to perform.

The Packers, Saints, Chiefs all have only won one Super Bowl recently with their franchise QBs .

We will see when it comes time to extend these guys with guaranteed money, which is where he normally cheapens out.

Ingram will be sitting at home watching the Super Bowl, just like the Steelers will be.

I did say time will tell!! I personally am not guaranteeing it myself in Mike's case. Again, if I am Jessie Bates III, I am asking to reset the market and nothing less. If not, the Los Angeles Chargers or even the Chicago Bears would entertain such an idea. I would also throw in the New York Jets as well.... though I doubt that is a destination that Jessie would want.

Marvin Lewis, a defensive minded coach, coached the Bengals for years. They had some success but he just couldn’t get them over the top. The Bengals bring in an offensive minded coach and draft a quarterback and here they are in the Super Bowl. I’m not a FMTI guy, but once they do part ways with Tomlin I really hope the next guy is someone with more of an offensive background who knows how to develop quarterbacks. The Rams are another good example. McVey is a quarterback guru who went to the Super Bowl with Jared Goff for crying out loud. He rescued Stafford’s career after he struggled in Detroit with mostly head coaches with defensive backgrounds.

You are correct. If the GM wants to get rid of a Aaron Donald I am sure the coach wouldn’t have any say. Again you must be right

Wow that's deep haha although I can't say really true. I spent some time in a management phase and hated it, moved back to a worker bee so to speak and couldn't be happier.

This mind boggles me because I went the other way. But I also believe that you spend too much time st work to not enjoy it. If you enjoy what you are doing, you are in good shape. You are better than most.

It would be so Bengal-like to not pay him, and see him go.

Something tells me that Mike Brown will not. In which case, the Chargers or Bears would be great landing spots; particularly Los Angeles. Why go with one playmaking safety in the form of Derwin James or Eddie Jackson whereas a team can have two. As I stated before, I would also add the likes of the Jets on this list but too many unknowns and too much instability there.

I would also love it if the Steelers go after him although acquiring him all but means both Edmunds and Witherspoon are gone; doubly so in Witherspoon's case. Hopefully we can keep him as our 2023 outlook on corner is... yikes!!
