What if the Steelers decide to trade Devin Bush during the draft for extra picks or to move up. Don’t believe they will pick up his option so misewell get something in return.

    Fire away.

Who knows what they are going to do with the option, but as you said who wants him and what do you get? He actually played decent before the injury, is the decline just physical, mental, or both? Do you trade for a 4th or 5th, or roll the dice and see if he recovers? At this point I say roll the dice and let it play out. If it works you still have options. If not he walks as a disappointing bust.

    1 he has no value

2 he costs 6 million against the cap of he is here or not

So IMO you keep him and hope he figures it out... that doesn't mean you don't try to replace him in the lineup but you keep him on the 53

Who is going to trade anything of significance for Devin Bush after the way he has played.

Best move is to hold on to him and see if he can turn things around.

Agreed. I don't see him having much of a trade market, so why bother trying to sell low?

Seriously who would want him? The absolute most anyone would offer is a 6th. They’re better off just keeping him and hoping he can rebound.

I don’t think this is correct. His base salary for 2022 is ~$3 million guaranteed, and the other ~$3 million is the proration of his signing bonus. If he’s cut, we eat the full $6 million. If he’s traded, his new team would take on the guaranteed base salary and we’d eat ~$3 million in dead bonus proration money.

You are right but I was going on the idea that he has no trade value

I think a 6 or 7 would be high end market... and unless you really feel you are the team to get the best out of him why pay him 3mill when you can draft a guy 6 or 7 for pennies

The Steelers are better off keeping him one more year and seeing what happens .. but only because they are such with him vs another team investing 3nill and a pick into what we have seen on tape

Myself I would like Foye Oluokun in FA .. try him and Bush in the middle.. best case they cook.. worst case he replaces Bush..

Why not tweak the defense so that ILB can actually succeed in it rather than have them locked up in man against All-Pro TEs?!

Devin looked promising his rookie year. He definitely regressed after injury. Still, which of our ILB actually looked good in this defense? Shazier made 2x Pro Bowls. Timmons made 1x. Finding LB as athletic as Shazier isn't sustainable. Maybe just put less responsibility on the LB? Have them play deeper zones and come up to tackle like... the corners. Tomlin's defense has corners that drop back in off zone coverage; and LB that have to play man against Travis Kelce and Mark Andrews. That's backwards.

they made a mistake, they. People around here think Tomlin is the only one who makes these decisions and overrides anyone else on the management team. It's nuts.

He was drafted as an ILB that had the ability to cover, he did that until his injury. To me Bush now plays like a guy that has no confidence in his body, he's skiddish.

It's not just Tomlin's defense that plays this way, a lot of defenses in the NFL have moved to this and it works. That's why you see a lot of college SS moved to ILB and why the age of the 250lb ILB has faded.

I believe Tomlin wanted to move up in the draft to take him, no?

If you trade for Bush, I believe you only get him for one yr, and then he’s a free agent. So how much do you give for a not-super-cheap, underachiever, who can leave after the season? Can’t be more than a 6th or 7th rounder. As some else posted earlier- you might as well keep him and hope his issues were a one season problem that gets resolved with mre recovery time from his knee surgery.

Colbert and his scouts are the ones who provided the scouting data to determine if it was worth moving up, Colbert negotiated the trade, and Rooney approved it. So yes, even if Tomlin did, so did everyone else involved in the decision making process. THEY

Tomlin does NOT have GM power on the team.

There were always 230 pound ILB. The MLB were more commonly 250.

Buffalo tried covering Kelce with ILB also. Game over.

You can blame Tomlin for the trade if you want, but the whole front office signed off on it. And if memory serves, the trade was pretty popular with a large majority of the fan base.

This would be his final contract year, it's been leaked that they likely won't offer the 5th year option to his rookie contract..... so as SteelHack said.... there's no trade value.

The question would be.... does he decide to pull a Bell and sit for his final contract year.... or play it out?
