Actually I did get it but wanted to flip the argument but didn't work too well. 15+ more years of mediocrity coming at ya but hey at least I won't be dumb! Because smart people defend Tomlin at all costs.

If we're gonna cherry pick former Steeler opinions of coaches how about we ask James Harrison. You know the guy who said Belichick was embarrassingly better at his job than Tomlin or something along those means.

Text is hard so I missed the sarcasm I suppose , my b.
However, there was an attempt at a point but lost on the last sentence.
No one suggested that smart people support Tomlin but I'm sure for Tomlin supporters that nice to hear!

Bill Belichick is one of the greatest coaches of all time. There is a long, long list of coaches that he's "embarrassingly better" then.

That also has nothing to do with the discussion about Tomlin and Cowher lol.

Can't do that. With Marino We probably don't have that Defense.
It's silly 2 say these things either way. It didn't happen, and it won't happen. So no way 2 prove either.

Cowher was definitely a "player's coach." Tomlin is the one who overreacts to criticism and made a big deal out of that harmless label.

Noll was also a "player's coach." Noll said he let players loose in NEW ORLEANS before a Super Bowl because he wanted them relaxed and having fun not tense over the game.

Joe Greene said Noll let him get away with things other coaches wouldn't.

Hell Holmes shot the pilot of a police chopper in '73 and played several more years.

Ernie Holmes was a psychopath. Joe Greene was out of control because he was obsessed with winning. That's why Noll gave him a larger leash.

Jack Lambert was crazy. Bradshaw was crazy.

The 70s Steelers were pretty amazing. Half good half crazy team. All managed by Noll. Whatta team.

Right? So I don't see the Steelers head coaches as "disciplinarians" up until Tomlin.

I think probably every coach gets compared to Belichick these days and he usually has zero tolerance for distractions. That has to be why it is necessary to be a "disciplinarian" right according to talking heads?

As long as a player is performing their job at a high level it doesn't matter what they do off field in the NFL for almost every team. I'd put Tomlin above Belichick for off field issues actually: Belichick signed Donte Stallworth after he killed someone; Tomlin ships players for being caught with weed.

I never expected or expect Tomlin to be belichick.

All I ask is to call a timeout when you need time to score before the half and having your team prepared at least 15 games out of the 17 and obviously the playoffs.

Tomlin has fundamental coaching issues. That's my gripe with him. Especially for someone who is called GREAT.
