He pulled a Tomlin. Everyone expects us to run and it’s working so we’ll throw just to show everyone how smart we are.

It wasn't just that time management decision. He burned a time out on the Titans fourth and two. They brought in their running back , organized, called and executed a successful play. That was inexcusable. The clock was working against the Titans. That time out bailed them out. I have always thought of Tomlin as a good, but not great coach. Top ten, but not top five. But I am now willing to point some of the criticism to coaching. Yes there are coaching blunders throughout the league. Hairbrain's second two point conversion loss comes to mind. However, Steeler linebackers repeatedly fail to maintain gap control. Special team runners repeatedly allow punt returners to get to the corner and turn upfield. I am yet to see the offensive line create a hole for the running back. Yes they are young and possess mediocre talent, but to never open a single hole? Some of that has be a lack of technique and coaching.

yeah that’s not exactly what he said. Although, it’s not surprising either. You have to remember the situation and what our offense had done to that point. We had gone 3 and out on basically every possession of the first half. We also failed to convert every 3rd down. Had tomlin called a timeout there or multiples there’s a good chance our offense would have given them the ball back with time to score. Suddenly you’re going into the half down by three scores with the Titans getting the ball to start the half.

But yea you can’t think like that when you’re down by 7 points and the Titans just held the ball for 10 minutes and get the ball to start the 2nd half as well. You gotta save time and give your offense a chance. It was beyond horrific how horrible that entire sequence was. No explanation really would have cut it. It was the wrong decision and Tomlin ****ed it up end of story.

The offense had been completely inept the entire half. The odds were good we would have given the ball back with time for them to score again. Had our offense shown any signs of life then I would agree.

I was fine with it. The way the defense is playing it felt more like saving time for them than for us

I thought the Steelers hired an Assistant...A time management and replay/ challenge assistant...Who is this guy, and where is he?

That would require adding another guy to the payroll.

The time management in the 1st half was bad. I wouldn't call this one out for the reason you mentioned. There was 10 seconds to the 2 minute warning. Now why he called timeout there was confusing to me, so I'd be curious why he used one there. They were not going to run a play and would have had time to regroup regardless.

There goes the Doodoo guy stepping in it again. Teryl Austin has the duties of clock management.

My teenage son was going crazy over that. No matter how many times I tell my wife not to try and take a nap during Steelers games she tries to anyways. That was yet another example of a natural alarm waking her up.

Hey Tomlin knows his team doesn't really play to the 4th quarter, so he was trying to get there quicker.

How pathetic is your HC when you need an assistant to manage the clock for you?

The number of people defending this is troubling. Managing clock and timeouts is one of the most basic duties of a head coach in multiple sports on all levels. Not being able to do this on a professional level is inexcusable.

Tomlin Stockholm Syndrome has truly set in for some members on this board.

I don't know how else to describe it. He could do the dumbest thing and people will still jump to his defense.

Probably because at that point in the game the Steelers offense would have lasted 15 seconds and given the ball back to the Titans.
