Was it smart to drop that kind of money on one player?

    6-2 with him in / 0-4-1 without

    I think I heard that.

    Make that 7-2

You can't tell that to the board bean counters who see 90 million as potentially 5 to 10 mediocre players who they can constantly berate in GameDay threads. Solid trade off in their books.

True. Wait until this team actually rebuilds. I do not htink most of the people here do not have the emotional stability or football IQ to handle it.

As i said in another post the Steelers have never given a huge 2nd
contract unless your a superstar or a franchise QB. That is not their business plan.
Obviously, they believe TJ watt is a superstar, and I think their right.

QB maybe. But we just see so many holes. I hope we’re able to rebuild despite the hefty price tag.

Spending that kind of money on any one player is a risk. That said, the EDGE is second only the QB position in contract AAV. If you get a special talent there, you tend to spend to keep it.

It seems to me you have an issue with either Watt or his signing - I've seen similar posts from you in other threads, including the one where you chided him for quitting on the team for not playing through a groin injury because it was an important game and he has a $90MM contract. Questioning whether the team can afford such a contract is one thing (they can), to start insinuating Watt is purposely sitting a game out because he didn't feel like playing is a bit juvenile.

Why you say so? Wait a minute, you got a #90 jersey don’t you? Hey, I don’t blame you one bit! But what about all the other holes on this team? Will this handcuff future Steelers teams?

For once the Steelers have some money to spend and the cap is set to continue rising after 2022 with the new TV deals. I don’t see the logic of not paying TJ and letting him walk away. They can easily afford his deal and I do t see too many other young guys they need to pay after Minkah and Diontae

They are probably 4-9 or 3-10 without TJ this year.

Right, you mentioned that last week. You’re correct, I’m not a fan of the signing. Love the talent, just don’t like the risk it brings.

What about the rebuild? What kind of an impact will the signing have going forward?

Sorta like hitching your horse to an aging QB with mounting injuries and declining skills, restructuring his deal until his base pay for a season is 40 million and having to cut solid players to be cap compliant because of it.

Either pay your superstars or have a team of mediocre players.

Taco did more on that play than Ingram has done all season for 2 teams.

What's the alternative? So they get rid of Watt, and who do they replace him with and what else do they use that money on? What holes could be fixed with more money?
