I wonder why he has wide receivers listed at 1.5 and then singles out Claypool? Pretty sure Haeg’s sacks allowed came during his brief stint at lg against the chargers.

To put this in perspective, The Eagles lead the league in sacks last year. The biggest culprit gave up 7. I doubt he was a rookie LT.

Aren’t the Ravens leading the league in sacks allowed? Pretty sure the our much maligned OL is middle of the pack in that department.

The STeelers only trail the Vikings. The Vikings have given up 41 the Steelers 37

According to nfl.com the Ravens have allowed 47, Steelers 30, and vikings 18. For what it’s worth the steelers 30 on nfl.com matches the data from Steelers depot. If you have a source that shows things differently I would love to see it.

/edit I found the discrepancy. You’re looking at defensive stats. This is sacks allowed by the offense.

Why not have Chuks at left and than Banner at right then?

That was the plan going into the season, was it not?

Because Banner wasn’t ready to go and they didn’t want to muck about with chemistry along the line. I had high hopes for Banner. He appeared to be significant upgrade as a run blocker.

I think it's worth mentioning Ben also leads the league in quickest to get rid of the ball. This essentially means we are designing plays to get rid of the ball immediately to help the O-line . So IMO it's worse than the stats say.

All I know is that the Ravens gave up a bunch of sacks a couple weeks ago

ben has been leading the league in that department for a couple seasons now. That was part of bringing Haley into the mix. Try and lengthen his career. I guess you could say it has worked since he’s still playing, but we’ve been having problems driving the length of the field for a while now. What they’ve done offensively since replacing Arians requires pinpoint accuracy and timing. Our receivers and qb rarely seem to be able to do that. We see bits of it here and there, but rarely for an entire game or reliably.

This post reminded me of Dan Marino. That guy got rid of the ball too fast. I remember in 83-84? when they went to the SB. In the pre game BS his receivers complained they couldn't make the cuts fast enough to be there for the ball. Just guessing here but I'd bet he didn't get sacked a lot compared to others.

Marino was sacked 3.1% of the time for his career. Roethlisberger is at twice that with a 6.2%. Roethlisberger has 13 seasons where he was sacked more than 5% of his attempted passes. including 6.2% this year. He has one season over 10% and several that were over 7.5%.

Last year Ben got rid of the ball quickly, this season he seems to be holding the ball longer, that's why he's getting sacked more.

    Thanks for looking it up.

Side note: Don Shula, coaching guru, was awesome for sure. He had 2 losing seasons in 33 years (Tomlin gonna catch him:)) but I always was surprised he couldn't get to the SB more then once with Marino.

marino got rid of the ball like that to those receivers because he could. those two receivers mark clayton and mark duper were like having two tyrek hills. they took short passes and ran through defenses for extra yards on most occasions. that was the offensive formula that year. i saw them in person every home game that year. we have a couple of those if we used them that way in johnson and mcleod. we seem to want to feed the big receiver in claypool more often. not sure why. ben likes bigger targets though and always clamored for them. he misses juju. he is getting used to friermuth though as a security blanket with juju down. still the quick guys are somewhat neglected by ben. he starts with johnson and then seems to fade from him until needed late in the game. we have the weapons, but the usage is kind of messed up at times.
