While all that is true and I think Joe has a right to be critical of this current team there are also some things to take into consideration as well namely there were some bad teams he coached near the end of Noll’s career. So as a player and a coach he has a unique perspective and they would be foolish not to listen.

Shew, I think I’d take some of those 80s defenses over the mix of PS players and pending busts that we have now.

Whether you like it or not, the league is about showboating now. Watch the run to the endzone to pose for the camera with a skit after a turnover. You must not watch many games besides The Steelers.

not in denial whatsoever. I’m fully aware of the issues with this team. I just don’t sit there and blame the coach for the sun rising such as yourself

it’s funny that people are complaining about celebrating now. Several years back people were complaining about the lack of celebrations. They even went so far as to call it the no fun league. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t

The celebrations I actually wasn't speaking about so much. Moreso the lack of preparedness that individual players seem to show on this team that isn't apparent in other games I watch.

That's another thread but maybe you don't watch those games close like you do the Steelers because players are always making mistakes. Both vets and rooks do, regardless of the team they play for.

You beat me to it. I don't know how many here remember the Steelers during the 80s. Because of drafting very low in each round for several seasons in a row during the second half of the 70s, combined with there being no wide open free agency then like there has been for years now, many of the Steelers teams during the 80s were not very talented. Sure, you can name a single really good player here or there, just like you can with this current team, but overall, they often just weren't very good. But as JackAttack indicates, when you watched their defenses play, you still knew it was the Steelers.

I doubt many here know this, but there was a survey that decade of NFL personnel (players, coaches, staff, etc.) asking a number of things, one of which was which team/unit in the league was tougher to play than the typical fan would generally think of. Several respondents said the Steelers defense. Not typically considered because their teams weren't very good then. But among the comments was one player who said that of all the teams he'd played in recent years, it wasn't even close as to which one hit the hardest, and who he still "felt" the most in the days after the game - the Steelers defense. All from some bad teams with no chance of winning anything.

THAT, folks, is caring about your profession. When you're not going to get any public hoopla, reward, praise, etc. for your efforts - how do you still perform? That WAS, at least, "The Steeler Way". I sure would like to believe it still is. Mr. Greene was correct. Thursday night sure didn't look like it.

I guess people forgot about our game against Seattle already, and their player not getting out of bounds at the end of the game.

There’s a time and a place for celebration in moderation. Down 29 after a INT, not the time. After a first down with time running out, not the time. It happens because the coach would rather be a buddy than a boss.

tomlin doesn’t have **** to do with it. It’s purely claypool and his immaturity. Nothing more and nothing less.

It would appear that some of those dumb skits the players are performing for attention when it doesn't count are better rehearsed than performing in their position during the game where it does count. JMO>

Here I was thinking one of a coaching staffs responsibilities is to continue to develop players both physically and mentally so they can perform the best they can to help the team. I guess I will now think of a coach as someone who just tells players what to do on plays and sends them off to the huddle and pays them for it. Players we draft are packaged ready to open and use with no other preparations needed to play. Need to tell MT to get rid of the Strength and Conditioning coach since all players probably already know how to work out when they get to Pittsburgh. Save some money and make the Rooney's happy too. IMO, culture is what drives some of this crap and its influence is top down. I would think culture keeps everyone between the lines of acceptable behavior/ and disciplined play and it looks like we've had a few wandering outside. I would think by a players second year they either get it, or they don't. Everyone can figure out why he may not for themselves. No one is going to be right on these types of issues. JMO>

You can coach a player 24/7 365, but he’s going to mature at his pace. Not much different than raising a child. You can teach them morals and values, but when they are out with their friends the onus is on the child to make the right decision. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don’t. When one makes the wrong choice it doesn’t mean the parent failed or was a bad parent.

Why 24/7 365, and not twenty four seven, three hundred, and sixty five. Such a child.
Why would a presumed Adult write this way???
LoL. Oh wait that only counts if someone else does it. Strummy. LoL. Your so cool:thumbs_up:

Using 24/7 is slightly different than using “2” because you don’t know the difference between to, too, and two. Nice try though pal.

LoL. If you are dumb enough 2 believe I don't know the difference between to,too, and two...You maybe just have learned that ,but I've known it since the 2nd grade. I do it the same reason as You did 24/7 365. It's faster, but like everything about You....it's OK if You do it. Just criticism on everyone else.
    Your so cool Strummy

Now You are ....Oh wait let's make Strummy happy....You're....I better not forget You're. Only a simple man wants 2 impress people with their knowledge....because of a lack of knowledge, and fear .
Strummy. It's OK. I still think You're Cool. It's that better???
