I know I been the one kind of keeping these going on here so I’ll try again staying optimistic. I still don’t think the Steelers are completely dead in the water yet in terms of making the playoffs. ESPN gives them a 10 percent chance after last night but I’d still say it’s around 40-50 percent despite the loss. I don’t think the Steelers are done until they lose their 8th game. Games to keep an eye on this weekend are

    Bengals vs Niners
    Bills vs Buccaneers
    Ravens vs Browns
    Chiefs vs Raiders
    Chargers vs Giants
    Broncos vs Lions
Colts on a bye week play the Patriots next week

Looking at that right now at first glance I think the Bengals,Bills, Browns, and Raiders all lose and the Chargers and Broncos win. So if that happens here the wildcard seeds would look like this

    5. Chargers 8-5
    6. Colts 7-6
    7. Bengals 7-6
    8. Bills 7-6
    9. Broncos 7-6
    10.Steelers 6–6-1
    11.Raiders 6-7
    12.Dolphins 6-7
    13.Browns 6-7

So you can still end this weekend just a 1/2 game out of 2 potential playoff spots the 6 and 7 seed if those results go that way. I think the Steelers do beat the Titans at home next Sunday and get to 7-6-1 so depending on how results go this weekend and next weekend they can still be right in this thing. I will check back here on Sunday night and update this and see where things stand with my predictions. But again let’s see how the games end up playing out this weekend on Sunday because the Steelers likely will still find themselves a 1/2 game out of a playoff spot come late Sunday evening despite the loss to the Vikings last night. So let’s see how it plays out.

Zero chance. There's only 7 spots and the Steelers may be the 9th or 10th best team, maximum... after week 18.

Someone ran the numbers, had we won last night we'd have a 22% chance of making playoffs. With the loss we're down to 9%.

We all realize our chances are slim to none but I’m with steel_ben7…as long as we’re not mathematically eliminated we should try and hold onto our optimism, hard as that is to do.

Stop why?? Why do people get so pissed about posting something like this?? It’s still out there and they aren’t eliminated yet so I’m gonna keep it going. I think the Steelers beat the Titans and Browns and lose in KC and are 8-7-1 and still alive for the playoffs going into Baltimore that last week. I don’t think Ben is gonna go quietly these last 4 games. He is gonna play well and while I agree the Steelers aren’t a playoff team I still think they will have a chance and be mathematically alive going into Baltimore on January 9th.

Watt still has groin issues. Can`t win without 100% Wattage.

While I'd like to get an extra few weeks of caring who wins I just do not see it happening. What I'd like to see is a team that competes all 4 quarters. Ben was pissed yesterday, so here's hoping he plays well to most likely end his career.

Hopefully the few extra days of rest help Watt come back for next weeks game against Tennessee.

No “E” yet in the Standings, but this team is poorly coached.

I like to see positive support for the playoff chances but there are many negatives against this team to make it be positive.

We can't run it well, we can't stop the run at all, we play about 20 minutes of a 60 minute football game.

I really feel we can win are last 4 games. I don't think the ravens win another game.bengals win the afc North. Bills have a tough schedule and so do the colts. So I believe there is light at the end of the tunnel.there are still a lot of games left to play.

    Hey Jammasterc.

This is the underlying common denominator for why this team underachieves. It is no secret except to the Tomlin Loyalists. I really backed him his first five years or so here but I cannot anymore. He has lead to the creation of a "Toxic" atmosphere here that even when Noll and Cowher had down years I did not see. He did what he was suppose to do when he got here. The team was loaded. He walked into a great situation. The same as Switzer for Dallas and Siefert for San Francisco. However, as time passed, the erosion began. It became evident that he is not Head Coaching material. His most "ballsy" coaching piece was sitting down Santonio Holmes when he got arrested the week of the Giants' game. We lost that game as some may recall. However, we went onto win Super Bowl XLIII in great part to Holmes. I really thought that we had a gem of a Coach. Not anymore. Time for him to go.

At KC? Chiefs are back to their winning ways. Steelers can't compete with them. No way, no how.

    Pitt win’s all 4 but I’ll settle for 3
    Cincinnati 2-3 very rough schedule
Cleveland 3-1 with a very rough schedule
    Baltimore 1-4 brutal schedule

    we win division very easy!

I disagree chiefs are not what they used to be there defense could be worse than ours. I have watched mahomes in a couple of games he looked like crap. When I watched he was making horrible throws. They can be beat!

This team has no business in the playoffs. To be fair a lot of things have gone wrong this year on the injury front but bottom line is that they don’t have the quality to compete with the best teams in the NFL
