Claypool with a toe doesn’t sound great. Might be time to activate Anthony Miller off the practice squad. He has been here now over a month and should be able to at least get a hat and see some snaps on game day. I’d rather activate him over a guy like Cody White.

Was just thinking the same thing. He also has a handful of PR and KR in his career.

Claypool likely out for multiple weeks. Good thing we didn’t trade Washington or Ray Ray would be our #2

Very disappointing! I read on here someone say we are pretty much healed except for season ending injuries. I took a positive from that and now see this ****.

BTW: Ray frigging Ray may not win any accolades for his amazing return abilities.

Our receiver depth looks like hot garbage right now. Although I guess it doesn’t really matter because Ben can’t throw downfield anyway. Practice squad guys should be able to run bubble screens and Jet sweeps

    I heard Odell is available.

I see where the Packers offered him Veteran minimum, can the Steelers top that?

You do realize the opposite is true, that the loss of a top receiver is even more damaging due to Roethlisberger's limitations. Claypool could at least turn some of those plays into bigger gains.

Yes, the Steelers have over 10 million in cap space.

Well it’s certainly not an ideal situation but Claypool hasn’t been turning much of anything into large gains this season. Very underwhelming although once again most of the blame probably falls on Bens limitations.

Does it carry over? We might need it to go QB shopping next season.

Yes, but they could also have like 25 million in dead money too.

Yep. That began with the 2011 CBA, with the purpose being to ensure the portion of revenue dedicated for the players was spent on the players.

Another season about to be derailed by injuries. This team has absolutely no depth at any position. Beyond first stringers it's a real crap shoot, and some are just pure crap. They better be putting a bid in to get OBJ to consider coming here. I was all against it for OBJs sake. Its desperation time as far as I'm concerned. No one here seriously believes Ray Ray, Cody White or Washington will do anything significant or at all.

The Tuitt situation is going to make that number interesting. As of now, they're looking at $2.5MM (Roche + Ingram). If Ben retires ($10.3MM), and both JuJu ($5.6MM) and Ebron ($3.9MM) move on, they're up to $22.3MM. As for Tuitt, if he retires or is cut, it adds another $9.7MM. $32MM total.

On the bright side, they're currently $45.9MM under the $208MM ceiling the NFLPA and owners decided upon for 2022. That number includes the dead money hits of the Roche/Ingram departures and void year amounts of Ben, JuJu, and Ebron (as well as the current $10MM rollover). Tuitt's cap number for next year is $13.9MM, thanks largely to a robust $9.0MM base salary. So while losing him would trigger his current and void year bonuses ($9.7MM), it would still end up saving $4.2MM against their cap.

The caveat is that the $45.9MM of space is based upon the $208MM ceiling, which isn't guaranteed, and a roster of 38 active players (37 and $50.1MM in space sans Tuitt).

They actually have pretty good depth at WR. What will likely derail this season is the starters at positions a lot of us were worried about in the offseason - OL, DB, and QB.

ben didn't practice with miller yet. without ben knowing the wr it doesn't bode well usually for them to have a major impact. that's my worry. ben trying to force it to washington way too much in this one. JW has not done much this year so far.
