I saw a article on SteelersWire (dont know how reliable a source it is) where they claimed Stephon Tuitt was seen practicing on Oct 8th with the team.

    https://steelerswire.usatoday.com/2021/10/08/steelers-stephon-tuitt-practice-knee-injury/

For what's it worth Stan Savran reported the same thing around the same time on his show on ESPN 970. If this is true then it started a 21 -day window that allowed him to practice before he had to be put back on the active roster or else he would be determined to be ineligible for the rest of the year.

    https://985thesportshub.com/listicle/nfl-injured-reserve-rules-2021/

Maybe the Steelers have found some loophole (i.e. he wasnt practicing with the team. He was practicing by himself)....but the 29th would definitely be 3 weeks.

This isn't just one season either, he gets nicked up a lot ... especially coming down the end-stretch of seasons.

You need your best players playing at their highest level towards the end of the year, and we just aren't getting that from him.

For what it’s worth I believe one of the articles said he was practicing on his own on the sideline and not with the team. They are allowed to rehab after injury.

Yeah he’s practicing on his own. The three week clock won’t start until he returns to team practices.

They can put Tuitt on the 53 man roster, but not play him if he’s not ready, ala Zach Banner. But I’m not totally clear that his 21-day clock has really started yet.

Except he had his best season last year, he played 15 games and had 11 sacks.

Yesterday's Terrible Podcast said that he hasn't even returned to practice officially yet, so whenever that happens, add a couple weeks. Don't expect him before the Christmas decorations start going up.

Well his little brother was killed so a bout of depression/mourning isn’t out of the realm of possibilities.

Tuitt is done, IMO. Steelers need to go heavy on D-line in the draft and free agency. How many years does Heyward have left on his contract?

Of course not, but to what depth no one here knows. Sure we can speculate, but when you assert an opinion as fact…..

Best I can tell from all these post we need to draft a QB, O-line guys, D-line guys, secondary guys, etc. Seems we need a whole new team with one draft year. Hey, at least we don't need a RB.

But it would be nice to pick up a FA RB in the mold of DeAngelo Williams.

What does that have to do with 2021? He is a non factor and another year older this year.

It is when this much time has past. Every day so many have losses as bad or worse than Tuitt and get on with life. Has there ever been any other athlete that has had a family loss and missed this much time as is the case here? I'll admit, in certain ways, losing a family member, friend, etc can hurt forever but never to the point that someone is not capable to move on after months. He has physical issues plain and simple unless a credible source says otherwise. JMO>

    too many!
a sad WASTE of lots of $$.

he dominates when playing. He may be back by thanksgiving, that is my guess. he can make a huge difference, if we are not already at 6 losses. by then.....

Yea Glenn. We make up everything all the time. Here's quotes from an article earlier this season that touches a little bit on his mental state.

Tuitt has not practiced this summer, which was assumed to be due to the death of his brother earlier this year. However, defensive coordinator Keith Butler said the issue could be a lingering knee injury.

"His knee is bothering him right now," Butler said. "I don't know everything about his knee, I just know it's slowing him down right now."

Butler also said Tuitt is "a little bit over weight" as he deals with off-field matters.

"To tell you the truth, I don't know how I'd handle my mom watching her son die," Butler said. "I don't know if I could handle that. I'm not sure what to tell you besides his knee is bugging him a little bit. He might be a little bit overweight and what he's dealing with his mother."

We had that backup RB, his name was James Conner.

Nice to see him succeeding in Arizona. LAst 5 games he has scored 6 TDs.

Sounds like Butler mostly denounced the claim that his missed time was solely due to the death of his brother.
I really didn’t have much issue with your earlier post. After all you did say that you were speculating or something to that affect.
My issue is with people that really know nothing of the issue proclaiming that he is done. That his career is over.
