Off topic but who would you get… O line or qb in 2022?

We had three consecutive drops in that last drive alone. Harris 2x and Claypool one

Most likely Rodgers is not returning to the Packs. Maybe we can rent him for a year or two since the next QB class looks weak

I though Harris had a couple by himself today?

Best option? Really? No effing way. Seeing that poor old lumbering soul try to run made me hurt let alone Ben.

    Me??

Get back to me at the end of this season. No seriously. I would get an Offensive Tackle but I imagine that Jacksonville will make a play for Evan Neal first..... assuming Shahid Khan does not mess that one up. If anything though, should Terrell Edmunds leave and Kyle Hamilton is still on the board with the top QB options gone to boot?????

.... I am 100% certain how you ignore that. Minkah and Kyle.. on the same team?? One can dream.

Now, if the guy is at whatever spot the Steelers pick... have to get him.. even with Neal on the board. Thankfully for the Steelers, the 2022 Offensive Tackle class not only has a clear cut number one but is very deep and talented as well. Looking for one later will be likely but selecting one early is critical.

Laugh all you want, but Mason out played Ben in the last 2 games last year. I'd like to see Mason in a game with ALL the starters playing to support him and not backups in to rest vets. I don't think we know what we have until then.

We just went through this exercise in getting a #1 RB pick and you see how that is turning out.

    Huh?!

Getting a QB behind this Offensive Line is not going to solve this teams woes. That said, getting a QB is still the best option though if that player is not available, I advise extreme caution for the next Christian Ponder. I have said this in perpetuity since April 21, 2016 and, I am running out of ways to say it.... so.. I will just say it!!!

    BPA > NEED.

    ALWAYS.

At any point, Wide Receiver woes are simply a microcosm of the major problems of the offense. However, one aspect is constant here. Problems can be solved whereas issues cannot. There is a massive issue on Offense and, until that issue becomes a problem to be solved, not even the NFL's best Wide Receivers on the same Roster will cure the woes.

Defenses know what to prepare for with the Steelers offense. Ben can essentially throw screens, quick slants/outs and throw a few 50/50 balls down the sidelines. He can’t make the throws a competent NFL qb should make. It’s easy to cover the receivers when the defense knows what’s coming.

Also why is everyone splitting hairs on the drops on the last drive lol. Game was over. Some of the “drops” some of you are referring to are inaccurate throws where the receiver needs to make a good play just to get hands on the ball.

They are NOT open ever! That pass alone to Washington was a beauty that an NFL receiver is going to run wild and score on!

Who played well on our team today?

Lackadaisical is a good word. The guy wilts like a flower at any criticism. And it goes with what I've been saying, all that matters is that regular season record so that it keeps butts in the seats. Playoffs who cares.

    Umm....

This is as incorrect of an assement as I have seen of AR 2. That said, you are free to have it.

    Agree to disagree.

You're the one that used lackadaisical unless I misunderstood your original post. And for the record whenever anybody criticizes Tomlin, AR2 is always the first to trot out the never a losing season excuse.

I sure did use said term... a term to describe the other Owners compared to him. That was the whole intention of stating such. No harm there.

Regarding your second statement, to have a successful business, one needs consistent results. That is paramount. Winning the Super Bowl is the key of course. However, just one question; how is said team supposed to accomplish such without being a consistent winner?! Not many Owners have that answer. Those that do usually find themselves in the Playoffs. Steelers have that answer and have been. Granted and, admittedly, not the ideal results at all.

That said, getting to the Super Bowl requires a team to be consistent at winning. If they are not, they will never reach that goal. Atlanta post 2017 is a prime example of what can happen when simply attempting to get to the Super Bowl is the only goal and nothing else matters; years of mediocrity. The 2017 Jaguars are another.

A flagship NFL Franchise example?! It has been over 20 years since the Dallas Cowboys appeared in a NFC Championship Game. Within those 20 Years though, Jerry Jones has done a tremendous job in marketing the Dallas Cowboys as the most valuable Franchise in all of sports. That said, what has that amounted to in the end?!

In short?! Yes, the end goal in Pittsburgh is to be contenders. However, getting there requires some consistency to do so. Oddly enough, between Jerry Jones and AR 2, Jerry has been the FAR GREATER reason why the Dallas Cowboys have failed than AR 2 could ever hope to be for the Steelers.

Again and, to get back on topic... again....

.... the Receiving woes can be fixed..... but only if said issue becomes non existent..... or somehow finds a way to revert to a problem so that the problem solving can begin. Missing Diontae Johnshon is far bigger than some realized.

Despite his maddening consistent inconsistency, he is the best WR on the team at this moment in time. Chase appears to be having some sophomore slump moments, James Washington is.... well... not doing very good and JuJu is currently banged up.

Not a good spot to be in all around. That said, Big Ben has to play better..... somehow... someway. Expecting this Defense to don "Steel Curtain" capes game in and out is illogical; injuries or otherwise

Stephen Jones will be more aggressive than his father if he is not already. This also makes him more gullible as well. Make note of that....

.... they will fail for the Jones Family are far too arrogant to accept assistance.

You're actually right. I'm the one contradicting myself. I've actually said I want AR2 to be more passive. Like Lemieux and Burkle where they provide input and the team president executes along with the GM. Art should not be in day to day operations imo. His lineage isn't adding value here.

Hmm... I see. Fair enough. Now, all that said....

AR 2 has been passive.... since 2017. In 2017 he desired a better pass rush; TJ Watt was the result. 2019 he was adamant about finding a new signal caller in the middle of the Defense; Devin Bush Jr. being the result. AR 2 elected to trade away a first round pick to acquire Minkah as Terrell clearly was and is not what the entire organization thought he would be.

His most recent passive action was in 2021.... for better and worse it seems. Keep Big Ben but improve the running game. So far, neither are panning out.... yet.

I say "yet" in response to the rushing attack as that can get better. The other aspect?! I doubt it very much.

Claypool and JuJu are taking some hits though. Every damn attempt at a catch is contested and they end up on the ground more than not! 6'1" and 6'3" guys both over 225 don't bounce off the ground like the smaller guys do!

They ended the game with literally drops lol. And clay pool always gets his hands on it but never quite brings it in.

And Ike Taylor had better hands than Ebron. Not even sure why Ebron is playing to be honest.
