Maybe be watching to see if a team loses a TE/ is looking for an upgrade at TE,And flip Ebron for a Tackle?

Trading Ebron would cost $3m because they did a void year extension with him earlier in the year. I doubt he is going anywhere.

I didn’t watch Muth’s blocking much last night, but he made some effective second level blocks vs. the Eagles. I believe that he’ll be an adequate blocker pretty early in the season, especially in space.

There are not 32 quality starting LT's in the league, I doubt you get an upgrade over what we have.

At this point neither of them need to do much to improve the run game other than getting their hands on the defender, seal the lane and drive with thier legs. It's like hitting the sled obviously there are defenders who higher talent level will make it difficult to get the perfect block but they only need to seal the lane for 20 seconds and let Harris do the rest.
An any team looking to trade one has got to be suspect so either they are on the wrong side of age x or they have off field problems causing them to want to jettison them.

If he is traded or cut during the season, does his future money become due? If so, he will be around all season.

    Hey Mac.

I have not been around for a while as you may have noticed. Trying to catch up with some of the gang here. Personally, I like Ebron. Although, it seems that the knock is he either is not capable of excelling in blocking or just is not interested. Either way, I hope he realizes that everyone is expendable. Given that, I am not insinuating that he feels entitled to being the #1 Tight End. I do think that Ben likes him and has established some decent rapport with him over the past few seasons. Given that, Ben cannot be happy with that drop after all of that scrambling and the “vintage” Ben that was put into that play.

I do not think we look to trade Ebron as some have suggested. We are not loaded at the TE position. He is way too valuable another toy in the play chest for our Offense. Yes, Mr. Freiermuth put in some very nice work on Saturday night. However, we need two TEs, “Bookends” per se and Freiermuth is a rookie. Given that, Ebron and Freiermuth is our best tandem.

Ebron may be more “athletic” per se. IMO, he has the stature of a Wide Receiver more so than a TE. I still have my concerns about the Offensive Line and our running game. I realize that the O-Line is a work in progress but statistically, they have not done much in 2/3 preseason games. The TEs along with the Running Backs are going to have to help out even more so IMO with the blocking until the O-line can more effectively “stand on their own”.

    Pre-Season Rushing Yardage

    Cowboys: 76 yards

    Eagles: 152 yards

    Lions: 78 yards

I know it is a small work sample. They did tear up the Eagles and as I watched that game they were gashing them nicely. However, they really seemed to struggle a bit against the Lions in what would be deemed the “Main Show” of the preseason. Again, they are a work in progress and with Ben back (IMO) and Canada in there, hopefully they will hold the fort down as the O-Line unit gels. Not overly concerned at this point. On a better note, the pass protection has been good.

welcome back SW. yes and no. we have 4 good TE's gentry is improving as a blocker and rader(whom i think is maybe the best all around TE we have right now) will probably not be kept since the numbers don't work. two are good in the passing game, two can make our run game go. rader has been the best blocking TE in the preseason so far. i will get back to this in a minute.

green is struggling in the passing protection game but is playing well in the run game. moore at left tackle is outplaying okrafor so far in pass protection and for sure in the run game.

is moore being a rookie going to hold them back from starting him? good question. is ebron holding them back from a good run game? good question. what does this offense want to do? do we weaken one part for vet presence or bite the bullet and put our best pass and run blocking people on the field? moore and rader will make the run game work. will that weaken the passing game? i don't think that much if friermuth is put into ebrons place and rader is the two for blocking. gentry is getting better at blocking but his pass catching game leaves a lot to be desired. do we want najee to succeed? he needs blocking. will the staff make the proper moves? good question.

ben likes a security blanket go to guy out there and if you prove to him you can be he will look for you. ebron was that for a year. he shy's away from guys that drop his passes after awhile. ebron has done that. he has a new shinny toy for now. one who could be a decent blocker i believe. is ebron really worth forcing into a spot and weakening what we are trying to improve? that's the question this staff needs to answer. same as the LT spot.

this says some of what i was talking about if the staff is serious about young guys stepping up to make a difference and the staff actually counting on them.

Ebron will always have a 3-5 Catch game for 40 to 50 yards, and he will drop an important pass once a game.

He doesn't want to block, when he does its not good. He's not going to be the high point catch guy that Pat is going to be.

Pat had like this really crazy thing at Penn State that he never dropped a pass, that was thrown to him in the endzone at Penn State.

The play before his 1st TD Pat completely screws up and Harris gets killed because of it.

Ebron might be a better blocker than Pat right now and that is saying a lot about how bad Pat Feiermuth's blocking skills are.

Rader is definitely a better blocker than Gentry and will probably make the game day roster because of his blocking skills.

Actually Ebron surprised me with a few blocks this last game. Going 2 go back over it again. So I'm not giddy over the whole thing, but He did show I little want in the last game.

What many of you are forgetting,, we have a worthless Derek Watt also making
3 million this year that could slide into the TE spot on occasion. If the opportunity arises,
get what you can get for Ebron. Gentry and Radar can handle their limited chances. With our
WR depth and Friermuth there will be very little touches for Ebron or any other TE.Or get rid of Watt although I think he plays ST that Ebron does not.

Sure he is, he sees the writing on the wall, hell Helen Keller can see this.
Him or Derek Watt has to go.
