If Haskins wanted to be the backup then he needed to outperform Rudolph. Instead Rudolph outperformed Haskins. Rudolph converted 75% of his passes for over 8.3 YPA. Haskins completed 66.7% of his passes for under 6.5 YPA.

 

If Haskins is #3, and a guy used to being a starter, is relegated to running the scout team and being inactive every week, it shouldn’t be a shock if he loses interest and outside influences take over. The Steelers need to do what they think is best for the team, esp in 2021 where they imagine they can contend with Ben. But if they think Haskins is the future, don’t make him #3, he doesn’t have to suffer purgatory. And believe me, he won’t. If they think Mason is better, cut Haskins and give him your vote of confidence. If Mason is the future, he don’t need Haskins overlooking his shoulder waiting for him to fail.

 

If this is so....Well then we don't want him. He should be happy 2 be on a team. Going 2 be a lot of players in a few week that would love 2 have at least that.

 

In Haskins mind, he’s easily an NFL #2. He doesn’t have to be ‘happy’ to be on a team. He ain’t ‘a lot of players’, he a blue chipper. He knows he ain’t no #3.

 

If failing to win the backup job is all it takes to make him phone in his effort this year then we should cut Haskins now.

Not to disparage your guitar prowess, but I’m guessing you never toured with The Rolling Stones or headlined an act that drew 10s of thousands. Dwayne Haskins did, in his profession. Haskins hinted that ‘things were said’ between him and the organization. My guess is that ‘those things’ didn’t include: you sit at #3 whole Ben plays in ‘21 and maybe ‘22. Then we’ll see about Mason. Don’t worry you’ll get your turn in ‘23 or ‘24.

 

If Rudolph is the clear #2 and the future, in the eyes of the organization. Fine, cut Haskins and keep Dobbs (the perfect #3). This gives Mason the vote of confidence that he’s the heir apparent and nobody is looking over his shoulder.

If they think Haskins is the future, even if Mason is better right now. Cut Mason, devote your resources to the development of Haskins as the next guy.

Reality: Keep Mason, cuz he’s the better backup now, piss off Haskins at #3, but make sure Mason knows that if he plays one bad game, he’s out. Perfect. You can destroy the confidence off two players at once!!!

Haskins in college...what you are going by (because he didn't do $hit in the pros) did less than Tebow, and 500 other college Qbs. I honestly wish him the best, and he proves 2 be the best on the team I shall root for him,,but he can't be that fragile minded.
