Why is it they are always ready to anoint QBs as Elite before they've actually done anything. I'm already seeing where they are talking about Kyler Murray taking that next step on becoming an elite QB. I just don't see it.

Not sure if He will ,or he won't, but I completely agree with You. They (the MEDIA) seems 2 like 2 raise these Guys 2 fast. Like they just started watching Football 2 Years ago. I could give a list of previous anointed Qbs that are , either not in Football anymore, have already been sent packing 2 another team, or Have Never done anything.

The answer to the media hyping up these up and coming QBs is simple; market expansion and base stabilization. The NFL is a business; one of the most successful businesses around at the moment. Having employees that are of the younger generation and have ample amounts of talent and skill greatly allows the NFL to market its brand. Players like Kyler Murray, TJ Watt, Jalen Ramsey, Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson and even to rookies like Najee Harris and Trevor Lawrence give the NFL quality marketing pieces to not only maintain the current interest of the core NFL fans but to increase and expand said interest to other markets world wide. Keep in mind that the NFL is hell bent on obtaining an International Team for the sake of the US Dollar.

That said, whether or not a player is/is not elite remains to be seen. That said, Kyler Murray is closer than some think. Offensive Rookie of the Year to Pro Bowler. What will let Kyler down this year will not be him but how long that Defense will gel. So far so good on their end.

The media is adept at putting athletes on pedestals, mocking their failures, then creating second chance heroes.

I Agree with everything You said , but... His Offensive Rookie of the Year. I can think of Better that Year ....also He really didn't play , and His numbers (if you count that stuff) weren't Better than Qb G. Minshew that Year.

    Yep.

All about creating narratives; real or otherwise. So long as it benefits/favors the NFL, whether it is right or not is irrelevant.

He has the talent to be a top 5 elite mvp caliber qb. Will he? Hard to say but it's not a stretch to assume that.

Only thing that bothers Me about him is His size. When I seen TJ Watt throw Him down with one arm while being blocked....Well it kind of worried Me about Him.

I think he's 5'7", 5'8" max. Should embrace it, it would open up doors for other short players. Boston Scott is 5'6".

Mac Jones looks ready to me. I haven't seen every throw and it's only preseason, but what I have seen is he looks decisive, in command, and above all, accurate. I hate that NE got him. I hope he's not the same competitive gym rat that Brady is, otherwise they may be poised to go on another run.

Can't believe how much he was downgraded pre-draft for his supporting cast when Burrow had basically the same thing the year before.

Wish he was the guy we had preparing to take over next year.

I had him at number 2 Qb on my little draft board I do for fun, but most on here thought that was crazy.

Yeah his size is a concern. He has everything else though. He really as a talent is elite. Question is will his size be too much to overcome.
