I think Moore should start, but of course they see Moore (like that) of Him then I do.

Even if they did it would be as a depth signing, maybe after training camp cuts.

I've watched both preseason games about 5 times each, and I'm scared more for our one side at Cb then anywhere else on the field.

The pass rush will get 50 or more sacks, that ill help the secondary alot.

The problem with that philosophy is eventually you'll run into a great OL, or they will max protect, or throw quickly, or a mobile QB will elude the rush, and the pass rush will be mitigated.

The Steelers led the league by far with a 45% pressure rate. That means 55% of the time the QB has a clean pocket and you'd better be able to cover, and of course as mentioned above, those pressure plays can be mitigated.

If that means playing to their strengths and our weaknesses, then yeah, it's limited. We're not the only team that others will face with a fierce pass rush. We also haven't proven that we can stop the run. So I'm not sure there's any limitations imposed on the other teams we'll face that they haven't already accounted for. We're not sneaking up on anyone defensively.

Well yeah, but so does everyone else. There is no "duplicate" team or unit from year to year. How did our defense actually change? We had a bad secondary last year and this year isn't necessarily better or worse. Trading Bud for Alex might be a slight dropoff, but the way he's looked, it might be just as good if not better. Bush wasn't anything to write home about last season, but he was fast. Spillane is who we thought he was, no better or worse at this point. Schobert and Ingram are the x-factor. They could improve our defense from last season if they'll be stout against the run and able to effectively drop into coverage when called upon. But the defense, as a whole, is what it was last year. Very good up front, fierce pass rush, okay against the run, and shaky secondary, hit or miss on most plays.

2nd hardest schedule re: QBs faced. If no injuries to opposing QBs, they'll no doubt have lesser stats, but may be better.

ILB and OLB are better units this year. CB is the big ?, Sutton was tried for the first time in the slot today. Butler's comments after yesterday's practice suggest that might be the plan, with Pierre outside.

I suppose the other question mark is age. If any or all of Haden, Heyward, or Alualu hit the wall, trouble.

With Ben out there, there's no excuse for anyone else to hit the age wall. And Tomlin will have him out there with crutches, or a walker, before he relieves him.

Bush & Highsmith are players to watch on this defense imo. Two guys that should blossom this year .

    Indeed.

I thought Pierre would flourish but only later in Training Camp. He has been tearing it up since OTA's!! If Pierre can truly pan out, that saves this team quite a bit in terms of future draft capital.
