And all the apologists' ears just perked up. Get ready for the whining about Bush coming off an injury and not being 100%. My take is that Harris would embarass Bush pre-injury.

Bush is nursing back to full health... physically, mentally, spiritually. I hope

Both things can be true, but by all means, just go on making up both sides of an argument all by yourself.

Is he cooling off, or just trying to get his numbers more like Ben's. This doesn't look too good for our signal callers.

    Rudolph: 30/44 (68.2%) 294 yards (6.7 YPA) 6 TD's 0 INT - 9.8 YPC
    Haskins: 22/41 (53.7%) 215 yards (5.2 YPA) 3 TD's 1 INT - 9.8 YPC
    Ben: 15/23 (65.2%) 110 yards (4.8 YPA) 5 TD's 1 INT - 7.3 YPC
    Dobbs: 17/22 (77.3%) 202 yards (9.2 YPA) 3 TD's 0 INT - 11.9 YPC

Ben picking up right where he left off last season.

Looking at the RB's stats the last 4 practices, Jaylen Samuels has 5 carries for 0 yards. Maybe even worse is the receiving stat for Eric Ebron. 1 catch in 7 targets with 2 drops. Do these two even want to make the team?

I think Ben has mostly participated in 7 on 7’s though, goal line drills.

    I don't accept excuses!!!!

But yeah, if that's the case, the numbers are skewed. I'm just not sure why Ben isn't being given the opportunity to establish a rhythm with his WR's in the area where we need to most work. 7 shots doesn't put anyone in a position to hold the line of scrimmage for routes to develop and for WR's to be able to earn their keep. Goal line is very important, but guess what? If you can't get down there, it doesn't matter.

Mark Madden (love him or hate him) had this take on training camp so far...

"It’s reminiscent of Rocky’s training camp prior to the first Clubber Lang fight in that never-ending franchise’s third movie. There was a bubble machine, music blaring and photo ops. Then Rocky got his block knocked off and Mick died.

Apollo Creed won’t be showing up. Nor will common sense when it comes to objectively deciphering the preseason."

Tomlin isn't worried about anything. Not Watt's contract, not Dotson being demoted, not that we don't have a legit QB2, and not that we don't have a 3rd CB worth his salt, just to mention a few. But hey, as long as he's not coaching in his fears and he's got a drawing board to go back to when the wheels fall off, right?

Sometimes Tomlin looks his best when the wheels are falling off, take 2019 as evidence.

Unfortunate that people still have an ear for this Madden character.

We have several 3rd cornerbacks from what I saw last week. We have 3 qb2s. Dotson isn't a big concern at this point, we have guards. Just added a new one in fact.

I haven't seen anything consistent from our potential 3rd/4th CB's to make me feel comfortable. We have live bodies, but I wouldn't call any of them depth. And no, we don't have a QB2 who is ready/capable of leading this team if Ben goes down. Again, we have bodies, but no depth. Dotson may or may not be ready for game 1, either healthwise or preparedness. And adding new guards during preseason shouldn't make anyone feel all warm and fuzzy.

Could all this work itself out? Yep. But to not be concerned about it is crazy. Not much can be done about it at this point, though, so fingers crossed.

Do you want your backup QB to lead the team? I mean it is a luxury and quite frankly the dream but if your QB2 is as good as QB1 then you have a quarterback controversy a brewing. In the case where number 1 goes down I'd rather have the balance spread out to all the players rather than forcing a backup to step in and be a leader. When Ben went down originally I thought good now tailor your offense to the guy you have. Nope didn't happen Tomlin doesn't seek to reinvent the wheel.

As a point of clarification I'm not saying I thought it was good Ben got hurt I thought it was good that they knew definitively he was out for the season not a week to week basis will he or won't he type injury.

we have a true qbs coach now, give it time. Getting another guard in here with at least 3weeks before the first game gives him time. We have other guards here as well so Dotson isn't as big of deal at this point.

I would have bet the farm he had a losing season with the 0-2 start by injured Ben. Him & Colbert pulled a rabbit out of Rooney's hat.

I think we're mincing words here. I don't disagree with you, but do I want our QB2 to lead the team in the (likely) event our QB1 goes down? Absolutely. These are professionals and they're here to do exactly that. Ben did that when he was a just a lowly, rookie backup. Remember Faneca's response to Ben "leading" the team? He didn't want or care for the rookie being under center. But Ben surpassed Alan's expectations. Unfortunately, I don't see our backups living up to expectations we have for the starting QB of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

And I'm with you 100% about the rest of the offense needing to pick up the slack if Ben were to go down. If everyone can elevate their game a little, one man doesn't have to do it all.

I feel we need to keep Jamir Jones on the roster... I don't care how good Cassius Marsh is on Special Teams.

Wonderful. What if the Haskins era, whether successful or not, is ushered in much sooner than expected? What if Ben just doesn’t have it anymore.

(I can see the smoke pouring from STD’s ears from here).
