I usually agree with you (don't tell anyone, they don't like you and I don't want lumped in unnecessarily). But I don't see that the team is being built around Najee. How are we being "built" exactly? We've made a commitment to running the ball by putting together a very suspect OL. They could be great, but they've little experience and even less experience playing together. They don't even look great on paper. And there's no backup plan? The only backup plan for a run-centric offense is backup RB's. We've actually got that. Are they great? Nope. But we've got depth.

And then there's the bubble wrap. Why? We lost a DB to a torn ACL already. When should we roll out the bubble wrap? OTA's?

I can't believe I'm saying this, but Tomlin is right. One sec...I just threw up a bit in my mouth.

    ...

    ...

Okay, I'm back. Tomlin is...hang on.

    ...

    ...

This is tougher than I thought it would be. Tomlin is something that rhymes with night. ... ... Okay, got through it. But I'm not going to try that again. Najee is a rookie and needs reps. Give him reps. Injuries are going to happen. You can't bubble wrap away injuries. The only thing I see as being an issue is keeping him on a pitch count throughout the season to keep his legs fresh enough for December (and hopefully beyond).

And in order to not ruin the rest of my day, I'll leave you with this:

Tomlin sucks. He really, really sucks.

    Okay, I feel better.

Like 31 other teams. There's a reason September football can be sloppy and unpredictable.

I'd rather see the Steelers in football shape in December, something they've failed to do the last several seasons.

Ineffective from gathering rust on the sidelines when he should have been part of a two headed monster the whole time. I was screaming it from the rooftops back then and I still stand behind that now. MT was blind in not seeing that balance.

Hell, our vets couldn't even take the last regular season game off last year (one week) and come back the next week and not fail miserably.

They've made an organizational commitment to fix the run game and drafted a RB in the first round. Besides a short yardage bull, they added no one else to the room. Add in Tomlin's propensity to rely solely on one feature back, and there you have it.

We have one 3-down RB around whom they can run the O they want, if he gets hurt, they're back to the backfield they deemed so bad that they need to draft a RB in the first round.

One of my biggest gripes on him is that he's not creative enough or able or willing to change for the better of the team. It's like he's reading a coaching for dummies book and is a really slow reader. He can get through one chapter a season and that's it.

ALOT of what Bell became was self - induced, But Man Tomlin ran the Hell out of him...He had LaGarrett Blount, a really good Back ( never used him ) Blount got frustrated and left... then an even better one with Williams, again hardly played when Bell was active why?

Bell WAS an elite Back... I'm not saying use those guys at a 50/50 split but...Man ,you had quality backups, make it 70 /30 or something and SAVE a lil for the playoffs...Bell was always hurt going into the playoffs, with loaded teams...And I think it could have been avoided..

All his other BS ( and there was alot ) COUPLED with his shot body...Is why he isn't on a roster...

All the crap he did would still be overlooked, and he would be on a team, if his TALENT was still elite...Trust me

So again, I ask, how is that building a team around Najee? It isn't. They can say they are making a commitment to anything they want, but the proof is in the pudding. And this pudding is missing ingredients.

And when has Tomlin EVER set this team up for success?

Also if the crap he did wasn't done he'd be on a roster. Believe that.
I could give You a list of Rbs that aren't near as good as they use 2 be ...that are on teams ...because they aren't a cancer.
    Works both ways.

It doesn’t matter. Tomlin could follow maddog’s recipe for success and he would still whine.

Saying he ran Bells wheels off suggest he ended his career, he didn’t, he was a top RB in the league when the contract stuff derailed his career.

    Are they rookies?

Besides, I was told to stop making excuses when citing injuries as the reason the season fell apart last year. Hmm :hmm:

It's getting there, I'm wondering if at some point we start seeing flags in the players back pocket.

But wasn't one of Bell's biggest gripes that Tomlin gave him too many touches?

(Some people don't like being fondled. Bell was one of them. I stole someone's reply. You know it would have happened!)

How many elite RBs aren’t the workhorse? Henry, Barkley, Zeke, Kamara all get the lion share of touches.

I have no problem with it, you can try an baby him and he still probably only gets one contract in Pittsburgh, might as well squeeze everything you can out of him. It’s the only reason I was against taking a RB in rd 1, you’d like those guys to be around for 10 years.

But now that they took him, take full advantage of that talent while you can.

Agreed. But be smart about it. He doesn't have to take every handoff. If the OL is opening holes, we have other backs that can run through a few of them. But Tomlin.

But Blast ..Those guys didn't have a Blount or Williams backing them up! And those guys, who are worse, got more carries than Pittsburghs backups, who were better...

Agree to disagree.. No way Tomlin should have run Bell like he did...When he had great talent, to keep him fresher... You're not ever gonna change my mind

Disco mentioned wanting a 70/30 split, I bet if someone is motivated enough to look it up, the numbers were probably close to that when Bell was here.

I suspect Harris will be around that, too. Especially Harris, I think McFarland will be involved more than people think with him having a history with Canada. And I have a feeling Ballage will take touches away, too.

Getting back to Bell for a minute and the Steelers being a high volume passing team, how many touches are we even talking about? On the ground only, not receiving touches.

I think it’s just Tomlin is a lightening rod around here so it’s “arrghhh Tomlin” all the time.
