He has to know something is up when he looks at the defense in practice and sees the front office has already given another player his #38.

That's the famous MT smokescreen. He's trying to catch the other teams off guard. They'll think we're undermanned and that will give us the upperhand we need to go undefeated. Works every time! Oh that Tomlin. He's smarter than the average bear.

He's so wide open on those undefensible wheel routes that he can't see the defense's numbers.

That didn’t work out so well for Jones.

Whatever the case may be in terms of reps and performance, consistency is key regarding both Haskins and Rudolph here. Haskins is winning out although I would have expected as much from a QB who does have starting experience... albeit unsuccessful. However, it does appear that he is making strides in Year 3 under a new Head Coach and stable organization. Rudolph's time though is running out if one is to take account into the numbers here.

Thursday will give us somewhat of a gauge to measure despite it being one game; pre season at that.

Wasn't that the same year someone was touting a 5th string QB because he could place the ball in someone's hip pocket on every throw while Landry couldn't hit a football with the broad side of a barn?

I'm still sticking to Haskins' tried and true m.o. of shining until the lights come on. I have great hopes for him here in Pittsburgh, and have nothing against him, but until he shows us that the main stage isn't too big for him, he's still going to be just another talented waste of a roster spot, all the goods but doesn't deliver, Pizza Hut showing up to the right house number, on time, one block away.

I didn't know Edmunds was still out with his shoulder injury from last year.

It might be the same one he hurt in college. I do not believe Tomlin specified on which shoulder was injured. The left shoulder was the one that Terrell injured in college though. Let us hope that said injury does not slow him down.

Rudolph has starting experience, too - 9 games vs. Haskins' 13.

    Interesting.

Both Rudolph and Haskins were also under different circumstances prior to the 2021 Pre Season. Again, context is key here. Furthermore, a question needs to be asked here; one that is regarding this very subject.

At what point, during this entire thread regarding the battle between Rudolph and Haskins, did I ever say Haskins has the upper hand based on experience?

Do I have to quote it again?

Again, your interpretation is not a constitution of my explanation.

Read the statement that you quoted carefully. I said I expected as much from a QB who has starting experience. I did not state nor interpret that Rudolph does not any to begin with. Using the Confirmation Bias is not going to get you anywhere today, tomorrow or ever here. All you will be doing is inciting the ire of others. If that is your desire, so be it. That stated, keep me out of it.

    Both are with a new QB Coach and new OC. Whomever is better will be the backup. No exceptions. Speaking of no exceptions;

I came on this thread to discuss important Training Camp events/updates. That is it; nothing more and nothing less. I am not going to debate pointless topics that not only have little to no merit due to reports by various members of the media regarding the overall performance of two players but also satiate such a God Complex appetite of such behavior either.

I think you're telling on yourself a bit. I merely pointed out that DH and MR both have NFL starts and it evoked this incredibly defensive reaction.

Anyone have a feel for how Rudolph is doing this year? I may have missed an evaluation of him but it seems like there is zero buzz around how he is performing at camp. Haven't heard much about the QBs in camp this year

Here's an evaluation of the offensive line I found. It's early though so not sure what this may mean at this point.

On Saturday, with veteran guard Trai Turner not taking park and with expected starting left tackle Chukwura Okorafor being very slowly ramped up and likely starting right tackle Zach Banner also "working through some things medically," as Colbert put it, the "first-string" offensive line was a very tough watch. They got overwhelmed and engulfed repeatedly in red zone situations and for most team periods of the practice involving the run game.

I think it was Mason who threw the int that Pierre returned for a over 90 yard TD, no video of it though.
