Unproven and in several cases untested. We know we will have a rookie RB as the feature for many things we want to do out of the backfield. We might have a rookie G switching to C, will he also be responsible to call the line corrections? A rookie TE possibly to be used in blocking situations quite often.

I am as hopeful as the next guy, but the rest of the line still unproven, a 2nd year G with a lot of promise and a new G coming off injury into a totally new system...that hope will be setting next to a bottle of Jack to help settle the nerves.

some stats are cool n all but.....

If we had the same number of pass attempts as last year, we'd only have to "win" (block for 2.5 secs) 4.6 times more a game to tie the glorious Cleveland brown stuff win rate of 65%. So basically once a quarter.

And those are projections. Does a "loss" automatically mean a sack or T.O. or loss of downs? NO.

    Nothing to see here imo.

You can also force "wins" by throwing quickly, but the problem comes when you want to push the ball downfield.

yes, for sure. My contention is more that the rate for the top ranked team and the bottom is pretty small when boiled down. Kind of like criticizing a 4.5 40 guy to a 4.4 guy.

The o-line criticisms have been debated ad nauseum by the media and fans, I'm ready for the pads.

    When does TC start, tomorrow?

I was watching one of @ItzYinzburgh@ItzYinzburgh 's videos the other day which showed one of the only times the Steelers laid a hurting on the Patriots. It's amazing how you can forget the details or let something be misconstrued and taint your opinion on a player. In my case it is Mendenhall, I was never a big fan of his but looking back I'm not sure he was as unimpressive as I thought.

Anyways back to the discussion at hand this game featured a very poor Oline with Pouncey just starting but the combination of weapons was just too much for the Pats to stop. Heath opened up the game with a huge opening drive where he got chunks of yards, the young money combo was just too much, if it wasn't AB it was Wallace, then Sanders and then boom Mendenhall like he was shot out of a Canon and then Moore with a great block and then caught a dump off for first downs. It was impressive. Point being that having a multiple threat offense can actually make an OL look better.

Only thing I ever liked about ESPN was in the early days that sexy chick in the cheerleader outfit cheering s-pin.

Talking heads must talk and predict, that is what their paid for.

Nobody knows what this Steelers offence is going to look like at this stage, probably not even the Steelers. No other unit in the league has as many variables and unknowns.

I take articles like this for what they are, a means to an end for analysts that need to write about something when there is no football

I suppose analytics in sports have some merit but when it becomes the standard that over rules the art of coaching and coaches instincts it becomes nothing more than a nuisance. In our case maybe analytics would be pleasant change hahahahahahahaha

I don't know. The ravens, and brown are the most analytical teams in the NFL. Doesn't seem 2 help them that much.

It's a good thing games are not won or loss based on analytics. There is a place for analytics in sports. I don't think they can be used to predict how a unit, team, or season will play out. There are simply to many unpredictable variables involved in team sports.

Analytics doesn't, or can't take in 2 consideration...Pain, Will, Determination, Heart, Hate, Want, Health, and Speed of a players thought process....just 2 name a few things.
I agree it has its place, but like a good pair of cleats ....it's not the be all end all of Football.
