He was good enough to lead them to 11-0, the lack of a running game and dropped passes, injuries on both sides contributed to him fading down the stretch.

Do they have the supporting cast to help him in 2021 though, that is the question. This teams success in 2021 will be determined by Ben and his OLine. If he can trust them to give him time to throw the ball he may be fine.

If the running game improves then he has enough help, they have enough weapons on offense, just need the OL to gel.

Exactly. Past tense. Then he wasn’t. Until proven otherwise, he is who he most recently was.

If the OLine works and can give him a running game and time to throw the ball down the field to Chase, Juju, Diontae and Ebron this offence could be very good. Big if, but if it happens they can be right there in the battle for the division

Same guy totally trashed Mayfield in a recent NFLN or ESPN bit. Thinks he's too small and slow to be a franchise QB and that the Browns should not pay him big $$$.

So 3O odd other QBs we shouldn't have 2 worry about with that thought process.

    Always "consider the source."

    Applies to just about everything.

They shouldn’t. Mayfield has the best OLine and backfield in the NFL and lives off the play action that enables. He is several tiers below Mahomes, Rodgers, Brady, Wilson, Watson, peak Ben than can actually carry a team.

I hope the Browns give him $40m a year

More . I'm hoping Him and Lamar get the most that's ever been given a Qb, and they take up the biggest percentage of their Salary cap . More than any Qb has.

I don't know if You seen my Post but Pat McAfee was laughing about the Ben take on his show. About how they are just making Bullsh!+ up a ESPN.

It’s all about the OLine like they said. If the pass rush is on top of Ben every time then it’s going to be a disaster because he can’t get away from pressure any more. He doesn’t want to get hit and the coaches don’t want him getting hit. If the OLine experiment doesn’t work then this offence doesn’t work. Putting Rudolph or Haskins in won’t make any difference

I hope that they give him control over personnel decisions too. It’s Baker Mayfield’s house after all.

Embarrassing that Orlovsky only cites TD/INT stats to justify if a QB is playing well, and also that he thinks Haskins is the backup.

If the o-line is really bad, then I can see him getting benched. I really don't see him being bad enough to get benched half way through the season on performance alone if the o-line is decent. I don't think Ben has eroded to the point where he's amongst the bottom quarter of NFL starting QB's. I don't think this is a playoff team, but with slightly above average offensive production, I'll stick with my 9-8 prediction.

I don't place much emphasis on the network analysts or their opinions. Fans with a reasonable understanding of the game are probably as accurate as some of them with predictions.
