QB ratings in the games of Haskins and Rudolph with 10+ attempts.

    DH: 32.8, 86.2, 79.9, 47.5, 69.9, 74.6, 121.3, 143.2, 82.5, 88.3, 58.8, 90.4, 68.4, 72.9, 36.9

    MR: 92.4, 81.4, 124.6, 100.2, 84.4, 84.3, 85.6, 36.3, 39.8, 100.4, 89.2

Probably the worst of all the QB rating stats, but easy to collate on pro-football-reference. I expected Haskins' to be much worse, like Josh Rosen bad (17 games, 0 90+ rating, 3 80+, 11 70-).

Another thing that jumped out was that in 8 of Haskins 15 qualifying games he threw 0 INT. Rudolph did that in only 4 of 11.

Does this mean much? Nope, but given the relative supporting casts maybe Haskins has a better shot than he's being given by some to win the backup job.

Quiz time: Which current rising star QB's first 15 games were these? No peeking, and remember to answer in the form of a question.

    56.6, 63.3, 111.2, 36.3, 42.0, 71.7, 89.8, 71.7, 44.4, 89.3, 52.6, 114.9, 71.2, 101.1, 81.1

Haskins can make all the throws his Former Coaches and players along with our QB Big Ben also showing respect for his arm .. As a lot have stated he came out to early and he needs to learn to understand the game much better .. I see no reason that he can't be a good starter in the NFL with simply putting in the time and work.. He may even become more than a good starter if the right light comes on and he becomes a true student of the game..Just Imagine what Ben could have become ?It seems the old Ben is trying to learn more and be more Coachable so maybe this helps Haskins in his film study and being a true student of the game..

Mason has a great deep ball , but not so much on Arm strength so driving balls into tight windows will never be his game.. I think he to can be a good starter in the right system..To me he needs the run game and needs to use the PA pass to open up the passing windows a bit wider to fit his arm and of course use that Deep Ball to keep Defenses from crowding the box..

I wish both guys the best of luck and I like Dobbs as well if in the correct system maybe not to the level as true Starter , but maybe as a change of pace guy who can use his legs to extend plays and force Defenses to spy him..

yes he is and the talent around them in college was quite different and who their qb coaches were is also. we did rudolph no favors here with qb coaching. it was a mess here. part time coaches and a guy that was an intern. while haskins had ryan day and gruden. mason had one multi interception game so far, haskins had several. plus wins in the nfl. haskins is and was bad at reading a defense if his initial receiver was covered. i saw the same thing from him at ohio state. there he had a good line and a good running game. he struggled when defenses confused him just a little. mentally mason is ahead. haskins as well as many ohio state qbs had the athletic skills but the mental part hurt them at the next level. fields was probably the best to come out of there with a good chance to make it in the pros.

Nice. Just goes to show how you can manipulate a narrative to make a guy seem awful. Also, watching this, his teammates certainly bare some of the blame.

I’m hoping he shows enough in preseason to make him the #2. If you truly want him to develop before next season when Ben is gone, he is going to need the reps.

I tried telling these idiots years ago. When I was willing to trade Tomlin/Rudolph for their 1st, Haskins, and 2021 2nd -
    http://thesteelersfans.com/forums/threads/trade-proposal-steelers-skins-for-tomlin.23088/

We could have Haskins, Chase Young, and Samuel Cosmi for dumb and dumber. They don't watch Football on here. Just boxscore analyst. I have a better track record on this forum than Colbert irl.

I'm hoping Haskins takes over #2 because it will mean there is improvement from what we have been working with. And boy howdy, do we need improvement.

This should be a very entertaining preseason. Ben is only going to play a handful of snaps. Rudolph and Haskins should have more than enough reps for us all to see what they have to offer. I hope the competition makes them both better.

I have not seen Haskins play so I don't know what he has. Just curious, you critiqued the Ohio State QBs but how do they compare to the Oklahoma State QBs? I guess you think that they were smart but lacking something? There seems to be an obvious bias in your assessment of the two college programs and the QB position.

Haskins completed 70% of his passes for 50 TD and 8 INT in 2018. If you saw him struggle it must have been in very isolated incidents.

Dude this aint HS football. A change of pace QB rarely works. Saints pulled it off some with Taysom Hill but you pretty much knew he was going to tuck it and run when he was under center. Dobbs has very little to offer and honestly should be working for Boeing or Northrup Grumman not an NFL team. I do agree with OP thay DH has just as much of a shot at #2 than MR.
