How many teams were even in the league when those teams won championships? Most fans that want to brag on those titles weren't even born when it happened, the media rarely mentions those old championships, and they talk about Super Bowl championships as a measure of a successful franchise.

The Packers and Giants are the only two that I know of the really pimp their pre-merger championships and the original Browns with Paul Brown being a huge innovator were scary good. That being said there were few teams a larger talent pool and less acclaim then now.

That first quarter of the playoff game in particular was a total fluke, they could play that first quarter again 100 times and I doubt you get an even remotely similar outcome. It was completely crazy.

Btw I’m not saying it was purely bad luck, Tomlin didn’t have his guys ready. I still think the first quarter was just a case ‘not your day’though.

If Steelers' fans can talk about Franco and the 70's dynasty, we should cut the Browns' fans some slack if they want to talk about Jim Brown and football recorded in black & white.

We should encourage them. They have so much to hope for.
If their team gets to 9 wins this year, they won't be 1-hit wonders any more.
The last time they had a winning season without it being sandwiched between losing seasons was 1989.

They can brag and that's fine but they came within a couple of plays of blowing a 28-0 lead. Steven Nelson dropped was probably a pick 6 when we were down by 11. If he takes it in and cuts their once 28 point lead down to 4 points, they would have been so tight you couldn't have pulled a needle out of their butts with a tractor.
We had one more chance midway through the fourth quarter down by 11 again and facing fourth and 1 from midfield but incredibly Tomlin had us punt and destroyed the team's momentum. Again if the Steelers would have gone for it and made it, even a FG then would have made it a one score game but Tomlin decided to live in his fears when the team had all of the momentum.

At least the Giants and Packers have Super Bowl wins, the Browns not so much :clowns:

The Browns need to have some sustained success before they are deserving of any praise. You don’t get to wash away years of pathetic play with one playoff win.

A common theme in Tomlin playoff losses is the lack of TO's forced. None in the last four games, multiple only once.

Ben rightfully takes a lot of heat for his performance in these games, but maybe the D could step up once in a while. Imagine if after that first pick last January, Watt had a strip sack or Minkah picked off Mayfield. Game on.

Instead, they wilted on their first possession and allowed Landry to run through them untouched.

    TO's per playoff loss:

    2007 Jax: 2
    2010 GB: 0
    2011 Den: 1
    2014 Bal: 1
    2015 Den: 0
    2016 NE: 0
    2017 Jax: 0
    2020 Cle: 0

So it's Tomlin's fault the defense didn't force turnovers ? Maybe these All-Pro players on defense should step up and make a play, Minkah, Heyward, and Watt I don't recall hearing their names called during that loss to the Browns .

20 years ago, their fans talking smack would have really bugged me. Now, not so much. The 1972 playoff win was an instant classic because of the way it ended. Through the passage of time and subsequent events, it's legend has grown over the years. The Immaculate Reception was dumb luck. The Browns win over the Steelers last January wasn't on the same level, but Pittsburgh gifted them 28 points and Clevelend was closer to blowing that game than most of their fans would be willing to admit.

Wow. I didn't realize it was that bad. In 4 games not one tipped ball that was picked, not one bobbled snap that was recovered, not one muffed punt that we jumped on, not one opposing RB fumbled the ball away, incredible.
That is either bad luck, a well prepared opponent or our D simply not stepping up and making a play.

He's a defensive head coach, all indications point to him assuming a greater role since LeBeau left.

Is he responsible for anything in your opinion, besides cheerleading?

Exactly. How do you not stumble into 1 or 2 at least, unless you're playing timid, play-not-to-lose football.

1989? Lets keep it that way until 2189. The only encouragement from me to the Stains is to fail in historic fashion. That goes for the Rats and Bungles. Hope, is a terrible thing for them. I can't find any logical reason to be glad anyone in our division is successful except The Pittsburgh Steelers. End of rant.

If they want to boast about championships won by a franchise that moved to Baltimore years ago, then I don’t begrudge them that. It’s Cleveland, what else do they have? The expansion Browns only lead the league in wasted high draft picks and consecutive decades of sucking donkey scrotums.

So it's Robert Spillane's fault for not being able to cover Jarvis Landry?

The coaches are responsible for putting the players in a position to succeed, but if a player misses a tackle, or drops a pass that's on the player that's my point.

I don't know about what the Coaches did, I can't hear what they are calling, or telling them, but watching the game, and seeing what they were in .. .there was a lot of missed assignments, and missed tackles.

So they've failed to get turnovers in so many playoff losses because of missed tackles and dropped passes?
