    Dude. My opinion. Yes.
These were, and are QBs I've never thought were good, and If you put them all in a draft right now ...all at the same time , same age ...I'd take Rudolph over everyone..
Except maybe.... Cam, but how he is now ...yes I'd take Rudolph over him.

You honestly think that Rudolph is better than Dak Prescott? Or Jared Goff? You can't be serious.

And you can't pick both Hill and Winston because they play on the same team. Only one can be the starter.

People thinking Rudolph is better than Mayfield is not thinking straight. I defy you to name one NFL GM that would take that straight up trade on talent or ability alone. It's not even close. Mayfield may be overrated, but he's light years better than Rudolph. Even the Steelers know that. They signed him to a stinking one-year extension. Hell, they gave Landry Jones a two year extension. That gives you an idea of even what his own team thinks of him. Less than Landry Jones at the same time.

In your opinion. Unless you work for the Steelers don't put words in their mouths.
What makes your opinion anymore right than mine??
    Because you say??
If you say well look were they were drafted...still means nothing.
I watched B. Mayfield's whole career...he has always been on stacked teams. Yet what has he won.
Wait till they pay him in Cleveland and they cant keep everything.
Then you come and tell me how great he is.

A team that would be better with Mason this year? I'll open up for criticism:

    1. Browns
    2. Patriots
    4. WFT (Synder needs to find a name seriously)
    5. Saints
    6. Panthers

    Some iffy ones:
    Eagles
    Raiders
    Bears
Mostly the experience factor weighed in.

Yep, Steelers not one of them.

What gives someone all this optimism that a 1st round bust that no one wanted is going to make this team at all? I think I've seen many a post on this board complaining about this player or that player not performing up to the draft capital invested. Now we have a total disappointment bargain basement 1st rounder that is different in some way? If Ron Rivera was unable to make it work, you really think it will be any different under MT and BB? I get that it is not a big risk due to how we acquired him but some expectations on here way out there IMO>

I didn't say my opinion was better. Just that yours flies in the face of real evidence, such as stats and the contract status of those others. Rudolph was 32nd out of 32 in the league in 2019 in QBR for pete's sake.

I didn't say Mayfield was great. Just better than Rudolph. It's not that difficult to be better than a guy who ended up 32 out of 32 in the league in QBR.

Hell, even Rudolph doesn't think he's that good. If he did he wouldn't have signed a stinking one year extension worth $3M.

The thread is getting off track, but some of you are saying that a guy that in 2019 was 32 out of 32 in QBR, found himself in a QB controversy with Duck Stinkin' Hodges (think about that one), was so good that the Steelers signed not one, but two more, QBs in Haskins and Dobbs, and was offered, and signed, a lousy one-year extension is somehow better than 10 starting QBs in the league.

His past performance, his own team's seeming lack of commitment, and his own lack of faith in himself for signing that contract all point to a marginal NFL QB at this point. Not a guy that is a lower middle of the pack starter in the league.

No, actually what this started with was your claim that Rudolph didn't get a fair shot because he wasn't prepared as a starter in 2019. That didn't stop Roethlisberger. You can compare the situations despite the fact that the teams were different. The talent gap between the two teams isn't as massive as you make it out to be.

The conversation moved on from there to other aspects of the comparison. I'm not the one who brought up the big hit's effect on Rudolph, so it is unfair and inaccurate to suggest that I'm the one moving the discussion in different directions.

You are certainly free to leave the discussion while you are behind. :)

The problem is that Edmunds never really showed it, not even in college. Dupree was a consensus first-round value and a freakish talent when you consider his size and speed. Edmunds was rated a second or third-round talent. He is a very good athlete, but I don't know that his physical talent stands out among safties the way Dupree's does among outside linebackers. That is, at best, subjective depending how you look at it.

Your inclusion of Prescott alone disqualifies your list from being worth considering as valid.

Mayfield is also clearly better than Rudolph. It isn't close.

Jones isn't great, but he is better than Rudolph. He has a better arm, he is more mobile, and he has been better as a pro despite playing on a bad team.

Goff is Rudolph with a better arm. Neither guy can handle it when things have to go off script.

Darnold has played his entire career in a worse situation than Rudolph. Neither guy has been good, but Darnold still has the physical gifts that made him such a high pick, gifts that are superior to Rudolph's.

I'm not sure what to think of Hurts, but I've never been a fan. He might be worse than Rudolph.

Lock has had more success as a pro than Rudolph, but he regressed horribly last season. I'll give you that one.

I'm not even sure Winston and Hill are worse, but they are fair to put on that list. That said, given that they are teammates, shouldn't that count as one?

Given the chance, if all contract issues were equal, I would happily trade Rudolph for almost every quarterback on your list. If the Steelers made that offer, they would be laughed at by every single one of those teams.

If Mason had started for Cle in playoff game vs Pitt, the Stelelers would have won and moved on play Buffalo. On that basis, and since Mason is 0-2, vs Mayfield in real games (While supposedly with the superior team), I conclude that Baker >> Reindeer.

Hard to dispute KMM, I'm hoping Haskins can outperform Mason for the #2 spot this year.
I believe that Baker will never see a starter contract after 2021.
Sam Darnold brings back memories of R. Leaf also. :hmm:

What gives me the optimism?! The fact that both Mike Tomlin and Kevin Colbert have turned proverbial lemons and made them lemonade before on multiple occasions. For that matter, an undrafted QB by the name of Delvin Hodges assisted Pittsburgh into nearly making the playoffs in 2019; both Tomlin's and Colbert's handy work. How about Mike Hilton?! Ramon Foster?! James Harrison?! Even a former Defensive End turned Pro Bowl Offensive Tackle in Alejandro Villanueva was apart of one of Tomlin's successful reclamation projects. James Pierre just might be the guy at corner should he be able to improve in 2021. These reasons and more I am seriously hoping that the team does take a chance on someone like Gareon Conley or Mailk Hooker as those players clearly have the talent but also the schematic fit for the team.

    Regarding Dwayne Haskins and the Washington Football Team not panning out, that answer is simple. The reason Dwayne Haskins did not pan out in Washington was a combination of self failures by Haskins with the impatience of the Football Team. Haskins had zero business playing any games in 2019 as that should have been his red shirt season. For two, even with the assistance of Ron Rivera, Haskins was still going to need time in order for him to become a better pro; much of it still on him but also his Coaches inability to create an Offensive Game Plan for them to assist Haskins being another big issue. The biggest indictment though was the overall lack of support offensively as a whole. Terry McLaurin, Logan Thomas and Antonio Gibson are very good players together but more was needed. Essentially, that is all the Football Team had for Haskins; their impatience with his supposed lack of development in addition to his own mistakes accelerating his exit. This last point is critical to under line because a Quarterback needs the following to assist him early in his career;

1.) Support: Every. QB. Needs. This. I do not care who the QB is; Tom Brady, Peyton Manning or otherwise. Even the aforementioned had talents like Kevin Faulk and Troy Brown to Hall of Fame talents like Marvin Harrison to Edgerrin James. Again, Haskins had only Logan Thomas, Antonio Gibson and Terry McLaurin. Those three are very good but not enough to win games. Dwayne Haskins will have a FAR SUPERIOR arsenal at his fingertips here should he make it.

2.) Consistency: Stability within an Organization is critical towards building a successful and consistent playoff caliber team. Between the two, Pittsburgh runs laps around the Washington Football Team historically. For that matter, since 2000, Pittsburgh has far more playoff wins that the Football Team has appearances. Part of that is the consistency of the Front Office and Coaching Staff. The other aspect is the continuity that the Front Office and Coaching Staff maintain. Again, Pittsburgh runs LAPS around the Football Team in every facet of this; a much better opportunity for Haskins to take advantage of. Haskins never had that in Washington but will have plenty of it here as Art Rooney II and Dan Snyder are not just two different people but two different ideologies as well.

3.) Time: Again, Haskins. Was. Not. Ready. Washington did not care. As a result, Haskins' development was prematurely accelerated and, as a result, stymied his development some in Washington. It would have been no different had Andy Reid just thrown Patrick Mahomes out there for all of 2017.... but what would have that accomplished?! Nothing. If anything, the Football Team should have just stayed with the likes of Case Keenum for the entire season and damn the record as the Football Team can blame themselves for their inability to prepare for said season. Haskins will get all the time he needs to get acclimated to not just the playbook but also to continue to develop as an NFL Quarterback.

In short?! Where the QB goes matters and not just about the QB himself. Does the QB himself have to improve on his own merits?! Without a doubt. However, does the team have to assist their QBs to the best of their ability?! Most definitely. Mike Tomlin clearly has his shortcomings as a Head Coach; some shortcomings far more egregious that others. That said, when it comes to finding diamonds in the rough, since 2007, only Bill Belichick has been shown that he does it better than Coach T. Beyond those two, whoever is in third place... are a very distant third place. I do believe that Dwayne Haskins can make this roster. Whether or not he is the answer though.... we will have to wait and see on that. I do not believe he is but should he somehow, someway, turn out to be... I will have no objection to it.

See . That's where believe You are wrong. He was in no controversy with Duck.
He beat Duck out fair ,and square. Was he not the starter after Ben went down, and until he got knocked out???
Did the Steelers not trade Dobbs away at that point??
Of Course they got Haskins...they've had a H@rd on for him since he was coming out.
Now You talk of all the QBs they brought in.
    1. They got rid of Duck so I guess they must have showed who they rather have.
    2. It's standard procedure for teams 2 bring this many QBs at the beginning of OTA, and practice.
    3. They do have a old QB (even if I still think hes got it in him)
    4. We do not have 2 agree.

That's a lot of information, thanks. However, if he has so much potential that is just waiting to be tapped, how is it we were the only ones who are seeing this? Couldn't several other teams signed him up just as we did or through a trade? It doesn't make sense to me such potential can sign for peanuts and only one team willing to do so. Haskins started one year in college and if that is what all are hanging their hopes on, so be it. It definitely wasn't his NFL performance I would think. We'll find out soon enough when camp starts. Stop :lolol:

Rudolph will never be a starter in this league, not going to happen. He’s backup material and honestly, can see him following the same path as Landry Jones and be out of the NFL after his contract ends.

Everyone on your list with the exception of Hill, Darnold and Hurts (only because we don’t know what Hurts is yet) are clearly better than Rudolph, in some cases, much much better.
