    We've went over this .
You can't compare the Team Ben took over (and I'm a Ben Apologist)...2 the offense Rudolph took over. Ward, P. Burroughs, W. Parker, The Bus, and Randle E. ...just 2 name a few ..who all had played with more than one Qb in Pittsburgh.......compared 2 JuJu, a bunch of 1st ,and 2nd year players, a center 1 year from retirement . All who had played in the NFL ...only played with Ben on this team. Not a very fair comparison.
This is not saying Rudolph is great....You just cant compare both starts

Not buying it. Steelers had the 9th rated OL according to PFF in 2019, 3rd in pass pro.

Conner, Vance, and Juju were coming off of career years, they didn't all magically get worse.

Oh, and they had the most devastating, disruptive, turnover-forcing D since 2008.

All that team needed was competent QB play.

You like PFF when it helps your argument, and not when it doesn't.
I dont need PFF 2 show Me one team had veteran players, some HOFs, Players that were successful later with other teams, and that had played with different QBs in the NFL.
Compared 2 a team with a retiring center, and a bunch of 1- 3 year players that had never played with another Qb here.
BUT....you keep relying on PFF 2 make your decisions for you. Not Your eyes ,or your own Mind.

For how many years was Pouncey retiring?

A QB stepping in to a team familiar with another is not some kind of unique situation to the 2019 Pittsburgh Steelers. Happens all the time with varying levels of success.

I think the team would have been ready for Mason this year.

Randy is gone, and we should be bringing back the play-action to slow the defense down and get the Safety's to play honest. Hard to get a running game going when all 11 players on defense are playing within 7 yards of the line of scrimmage.

5-3 or 10-6 pretty much makes the Playoffs every year!

Didn't Rudolph get first team reps every Wednesday, when Ben took maternity leave before he was injured? Rudolph's problems in 2019 stemmed from his inability to read defenses quickly. In 2020, he showed improvement in the Cleveland game and should have played in the Cincinnati loss. Fortunately Tomlin is a good enough coach to finish 9-8 this year, no matter who the QB is.

How did they pick the wrong Edmunds, when Tremaine was gone before their pick?

Maybe there is more than one Steeler fan who doesn't think they'll go undefeated and win the Super Bowl every year.

I'm posting articles and commenting on them. That's not trolling. Bad news on the Steelers isn't "trolling" or "hate".

Stop arguing like a 12-year old.

You can compare the preparation, and it's not nearly the gap in talent that you make it out to be. Rudolph had some decent moments, but overall, he wasn't good. Worst of all, he seemed to crumble under pressure.

Especially the pressure of a Helmet 2 his Jaw.
Not the Gap in talent. Who on 2019 team is even considered for the HOF. Maybe Pouncey???
Now how many on 2004 team are already in the HOF. That is a very simple....and I mean simple break down.
How about go look at both rosters side by side and see how funny that is.
    Thank You

TOMLIN thought that’s who he was drafting, Tremaine. He wasn’t paying attention obviously and we got stuck with a 3rd rd guy instead.

I'm in the camp that we need to see him in the #1 role taking snaps for the year to be able to accurately evaluate. They will be able to do this next year as he's under contract. I give Mason a B grade for mostly his position and I think he'll at least be a reliable backup.

I do think the Steelers have to draft a QB next year in round 1 or round 2

I wasn't aware Tomlin made the draft picks by himself , all this time I thought Colbert, Art II and the scouts had some say in drafting .

nah, Cowher used to make all of the draft picks himself also.

    that's how they became "Cowher's players". ;)

It was a pretty poor draft for sure. The draft where we took Burns and Davis was worse for sure, but it wasn't too solid. It happens. We've had far more good ones that mediocre and bad ones in recent history.

Edmunds feels like a Mendenhall pick for me. Is he a viable NFL starter at the position? Yes. Would you have hoped for better based on where he was picked? Yes.

Washington was a miss. He isn't a starting caliber NFL WR and you definitely would expect that from a second round WR. Claypool and Johnson are way ahead of him and they were 2nd and 3rd rounders respectively.

Rudolph... its hard to tell. He certainly cant be called a "hit" because he doesn't look like a guy that is going to be an average or better starting QB in the NFL. Is he a reasonable backup? probably? maybe? Idk. He looked pretty good until he took a head banger from Earl Thomas, then he looked pretty awful after he came back. Played pretty well in his only starting action last season. There's probably still some pages to be written here, but as of right now it certainly isn't a hit.
