Brady has done that his whole career. He has never been the highest paid QB in the league.

If he ever needs money he can just divorce Giselle and take half of hers since she has more money than him.

Brady didn't do that his 1st contract. It was well up there with the others at the time.
Also my friend....not all NFL QBs are married 2 a woman who makes WAY more than them.

I made my wife, who I met in Chicago, agree to a prenup:

    1) She had to move to Pittsburgh

    2) She had to root for the Steelers

    3) She had to drink Iron City Beer

    We renegotiated number 3.

Even when you factor in all of the dead money prepaid /pushed forward each year? If you add in the prepaid money each year to what he'll "make" in 2021, does it still add up to $14 mil?

In many instances what a player "makes" in a particular season is not represented by their cap number. Base wage amounts are distributed throughout the season, roster or workout bonuses have dates within the business 'season' that trigger their payouts, but prorated bonuses nearly always represent money that's already been paid.

This works for players like Brady as well. It's true he hasn't always been the top paid QB by way of cap numbers within a given year. But those numbers don't function as a receipt of cash a player received that season. Similarly, people claiming he took a pay cut in some years, including this one, so the team could use it for other players weren't understanding the difference between money paid and money accounted for.
