Sure if he wants to play for the vet minimum.

Steelers tried to sign him before in 2019 but the Bills offered more iirc, they ended up with butter fingers Moncrief instead.

I would not be against this if they can make the money work, but they are so strapped that they may not have the resources. Brown is a good player that can still take the top off a defence, zero point having him of the game plan doesn’t involve throwing the football down the field though. That remains to be seen.

If they are continuing with this dink and dunk crap they need a slot guy rather than a downfield player like Brown

Saw this earlier. I’d rather have Tate.

Brown will give them some veteran depth at WR, a reasonable #4 or #5. He wouldn’t be a bad addition, but there are gonna be other, potential better options.

I think the dink and dunk, and being in the shotgun was caused by Oline issues, JMO

Tate will probably be out of their price range, he also can be a knucklehead at times.

We need a deep threat, probably would be better to grab him than hope for a draft pick.

You are right, it was certainly a big part of it. It doesn’t really change the broad point I was making, if the gameplan next year doesn’t involve chucking the ball down the field there is little point signing a downfield specialist like Brown. I don’t have much confidence that a rookie Center and a rookie Tackle will fix the issue on the line immediately, in fact, there is a chance it gets worse in the short term.

If they do manage to sort that then I like the idea of Brown on one side and Claypool on the other, major headache for D coordinators

Turns 31 in April, the Steelers rarely sign outside FAs who are 30 or older. I'm not a fan of signing or drafting a WR this offseason with all the holes elsewhere, but if the Steelers do, look to John Ross from Cincy. High pedigree guy, younger, should be cheap enough.

That's how I feel. WR is the Steelers' deepest position right now, and they're going to recommit to the run game.

That money should go to the best blocking TE they can afford.

Is it that deep though? They normally have three on the field, with Juju gone they really only have Claypool, Diontae and JW left. Ray Ray is the returner / gadget guy. They don’t really have any depth beyond the starters and Diontae tends to miss time here and there. I don’t think they can afford to use a high pick there this year so a veteran would round out the group. Money is critical of course, this year more than ever.

Absolutely agree they need a nasty blocking TE. Rader showed some promise there towards the end of the season but not sure he is ready for a full time role, or if he will ever be ready.

He also said Ben throws a great deep ball, not sure what he was watching last year.

Switz will be back by camp if only to be Ben's pocket ball boy.

If JuJu leaves they will absolutely bring in a vet as well as drafting a WR.

Why would they sign Brown though? They have a deep threat in Claypool, they’d need a slot guy. I guess Brown could play there but his career outside of one year has been lackluster.

They could do both, draft one in the later rounds.

Claypool wasn't that effective once teams started double teaming him, they could use another deep threat.

I put that on coaching. If they had forced their hand let them play over and under on Claypool, when Washington is in as well run him deep and force teams to play Juju and Dj with linebackers. Yet they never did

Ben’s deep ball wasn’t there either, couldn’t hit squat.

This...it got to the point Chase was trying to get an interference call more than being able to catch the ball.
