Because most, not all, don't "report" anything Steelers don't either approve or want reported, until they say so, IMO

Maybe so Blast, but why then allow him to interview with Miami (and lose him on the spot) and not just promote him before all that drama. They may have had a 'wink-wink' for allowing him to do the interview, but that really would be bush league stuff.

His offense worked wonders with Pitt. The NFL is obviously a different story so we'll see.

Need to get Doug Marrone for OL coach. Very solid ol coach, no nonsense, balls to call out Ben if he reverts to PPOs, pass pass option lol.

Ben has been catered to too much, guy is not Brady, Breeze, Manning, or Rogers IMHO BUT he feels he's right behind Brady. Tomlin needs to get his face out of Def play call sheet n look at Off n take control

Watching Rodgers play as much as he annoys me. Ben you were never on his level. And that's on the Steelers org too for believing he was.

Really, as much as we complained about this organization wasting Ben's good years, GB really screwed it up with Rodgers. There should have been at least a couple more SB appearances for that team.

Our offense apparently had its hole sewn shut.

It’s a good question, I’m not sure why. Maybe they were having internal discussions about other candidates before making the offer but the fact that they didn’t hold any interviews makes me think he was always the preferred choice.

You definitely have a point there. Management screwed up his chances.

Just to be a fly on the wall to hear some of these discussions. Who knows, maybe that interview is what made them decide so quickly to move forward w/o doing other interviews themselves. I posted in another thread about them needing to move quickly on some of these decisions. Not 'knee jerk", but as other teams assemble staffs the options suddenly disappear. The OC needs to be involved in the discussions for who the other O coaches they will hire and needs to be open to more experienced coach's coming on board to help support and implement his system.

Outside of huge media markets this may be true for a lot of teams. The Steelers are a top brand, but still play in a very small market. I think it is much easier to control content in a small market than in cities like NYC, Chicago, or LA.

And Rogers has fewer SBs than Ben. So what does that tell you about the Packers org?

What’s crazy is that in all the years they had Favre and Rogers, the Packers have the same number of SBs as the Steelers with Roethlisberger.

I don't think so, some people just don't understand that getting to the SB is really tough and the NFL is very competitive.

Winning it is even tougher. Brady should have only three but got some luck. Remember the tuck rule game, the Pete Carroll decision and the Falcons gift.

    Tough league.

Imo the Steelers handcuffed themselves by not interviewing other candidates. This hiring comes down to nothing more than $$ imo

I hope with Canada as the OC that the offense will make more use of fullbacks and tight ends. Especially in the run game if Pouncey and DeCastro don't come back.

coming down to $$. So Rooney was not cheap and paid him more to not go to Miami? The going rate is the going rate, these guys all have agents, the difference in pay is not going to be that much for a first time OC.

Did he interview in Miami? and if he did why didn't Miami hire him if he was so great.? Steelers could have at least explored their options by bringing others in to interview and matched any offer Canada might have received if they really wanted him

It's gonna be more of the same in 2021. Ben should retire and a vet QB like Darnold, Stafford or Prescott should be signed to compete with Rudolph. The O line is gonna be a mess... doesn't really matter who is QB. 5-11 and a top 5 pick in '22.

Getting to the Super Bowl is really tough, no doubt about it. How about winning a playoff game at home vs. a team without their head coach, who didn't practice that week...
