Exactly...what good will bringing in a different qb do if RF is still offensive coordinator?? I like the idea of looking at Darnold also, but since the Jets just lost #1 pick Darnold's not happening.

I guess they have to ask themselves who is more of the problem...Ben or Randy??

There is no comparison to Woodson or any other Steelers vet. Ben is one of a kind.

We can only hope, if Ben continues as is, that the front office has enough guts to release him. Why make a bad decision worse? A lot of great QBs have not finished with their orig teams (i.e. Montana, Brady, Favre). Keeping him on the team is not helping him or the team.

Rod Woodson was productive for a number of years after the Steelers let him go. I wish he had been willing to move to safety for the Steelers. He made 1st all-pro at the age of 37.

Wish he had finished his career as a Steeler.

Here is the problem. What are you willing to up in draft capitol when you have so many needs? Jets are just going to give him away. His cap hit is 10 mill next year, not sure how much of that transfer in a trade, also you would have to pick up 5th year option, while performance based is still guaranteed on the transition tag for the position in the 4th year (some formulas beyond my understanding), that could be 20 - 25 mill for a QB.. A lot to invest for a guy you hope can recover.

I remember it well. Woodson bent over backwards to get a deal inked with the Steelers. They made an offer and said take it or leave it(according to Rod).
Comparing his situation to Ben's doesn't make sense.
Woodson was about the only non-Steeler I ever wanted to see win a super bowl and I was happy for him when he did.

In the eyes of the Steelers front office there's Ben, then there's 'all the other players'.

Well Brady is the standard for me....no QB that has yet to win a SB should be making more than him and he makes 25. I have to commend the Cowboys on not giving in long term to Dak....that being said other organizations have not faired so well according to my standards by giving their QBs over 25 which include the likes of Jared Goff and Jimmy Garopollo. It's just a huge mistake in my opinion to give a QB more money than that when they haven't proven they can win the big one. How you gonna build around them if you've handicapped yourself before you get started??

I had to laugh when the Steelers gave Ben as much as they did, but it was because of his age and noticeable declining performance at the time (he was barely middle of the pack starters) and because I thought LeVeon was equally if not definitely more deserving of a payout. Maybe not the money he was asking but if they would have given him $33 fully guaranteed and gave him incentive to make up the rest I believe he would have definitely taken it. I still maintain that the guaranteed amount they offered ($11 guaranteed) was a slap in the face and an insult and it's going to come back to bite the organization if it hasn't already.

How'd it come back to bite them? Bell isn't worth that! He's playing like ****, and has played like **** since he left here! How is that, coming back to bite us?

The market is what it is..and yes teams who do not capitalize on a rookie QB deal are in for long term trouble. Rogers gives the Pack a chance every year, but they still only have one SB. KC signed Mahomes to a deal that favored them the first few years, but you still eventually you have to pay others. Thing with Mahomes, if he continues to play like this you always have a chance.

You know you are going to have to eat these words now. Bell looked good in last weeks game taking over.

Now that Bell is KC's starting RB, he is in the perfect situation to prove all Steeler doubters wrong.

God, I hope we do not play KC and have Bell run all over us. I guess we would have to win a playoff game for that to happen, and right now that does not look like a possibility.

Not the case anymore. In the 90s we let guys walk a few years too early. Now we keep guys a few years too late.

I said it's going to come back to bite them...that's future tense not past...altho argument can be made that the Steelers would have been good for couple of additional wins the past two years with Leveon on the team which means two post season appearances.

You know as well as anyone else that the organization he was with had more to do with Leveon's lack of production than Leveon himself. Don't act lke it didnt. Watch what he does with the Chiefs.

Bingo, well said. Remember those days, the player would go on n have a decent season in year 1 after leaving then fall off a cliff n new team stuck w a huge contract

    Art isn't Dan, unfortunately

Bell can still play. He looked good against the Saints, who have as good a run defense as anybody in the league. No way is he worth the money he wanted two years ago, but right now he is significantly better than any running back on the Steelers' roster.

Snatch up Dak Prescott from the Cowboys. They failed to get a deal done and then he suffered a terrible injury. Assuming he heals up properly would it be possible to sign him to 3-4 years? I know our cap is tight and I don't know how Ben leaving effects things but the injury should lower his price a bit the only thing to worry about is Cowboy's tagging him again which i think is unlikely or another team with more cap space beating us out. I just don't want to go through a QB drought and definitely not while we have potential star WRs and some real studs on defense.

Good points. If they can that waste of Randy and make Matt Canada the OC then it might be a good fit.

Sharp enough to know who’s on the team and who’s not. Sharp enough to know who’s a free agent and who’s not.

Maybe Randy is smarter then you think and knows the line isn't good enough, nor are the qbs. This may be the offense we can run last year and this year. We have gone 19-9 since Ben went out last year.
