I said same thing awhile back but for back-up. I think his contract could be a problem.

Let's see my Pirates will suck for rest of my life. My Penguins superstars have grown old so I'm thinking they will be trending down and my Steelers are going to have Mason Rudolph under center for future.

I've seen 14 Pittsburgh Championships in my life and I'm not to optimistic I'll see another:(

While I think many of us would love this, his contract is the issue. Even if we were willing to bite with the contract hit, it would limit our ability to sign TJ. It is like we are doomed at QB for our 2021 season as well.

Some have floated Darnold. Assuming the Jets don’t win anymore games and the Jags do, it would be worth a call to see what the Jets want for him.

If Jets lose out on the Lawrence sweepstakes, they won’t move Darnold.

Do you have faith in this coaching regime to have success with Darnold? Darnold will need good coaching and good schemes for a while.

I really don't feel our current regime will have any success with any QB not named Mahomes, Wilson or Rodgers. Our terrible OC especially

If Ben finishes this season without a major injury I see no reason why he wouldn't come back next season.

He's already said he plans on playing next season and he's not going to be released, so...

I just think Darnold needs to get away from Gase like Scribe said. Gase ruins everyone. I think our coaches coach up players just fine, very talented players on this team.

Darnold, Prescott or Stafford would be more logical than Wentz, IMO.

Good news about their annual collapse is the improvement of the draft position. Get the best 1st round QB to fall to wherever they'll draft at 11-6.

The Jaguars have the top pick right now. They would have to win a game for the Jets to get back to into the top spot.

Yes, I pointed that out :smiley1:

If the Jets don’t win anymore games and the Jags do, Jets will regain the top pick.

$19 million; that is how much the Steelers will save if they choose to cut Ben.

Seems like they could pick someone up for $19 million next year.

That's not the problem. Do you honestly think, short of something like a very bad injury, the Steelers would cut Ben before next season's deadline (early March, 2021)? Keep in mind that Ben has already stated that he wants to come back next season.

See Rod Woodson. The Steelers have always been pretty good about showing Veterans the door when their skills have diminished.

For $19 mil they should be able to bring in a quality veteran to compete for the #1 job

Would come cheaper than the others mentioned, but in the end you still have a .500 or less career QB, will give you some good games...then mystify you with dumb crap. Maybe you are on to something there, 8-8 a MT kinda guy

The 22 cap hit is there regardless, add the 19 and it will account for 20% of the Cap..just not sustainable. So they either extend and bring the cap hit down a bit, try to fit pieces in for one more run, or they just do a Woodson, Hines, and Troy on Ben...I honestly do not see that happening...but you never know. If they do spend 19 mill plus on another QB, it binds the team in other areas. You have to fix what is broken, OL, RB, need immediate upgrade, you can only do so much through the draft.

Another key this off season is Colbert's decision. He has been signing 1 year deals, the Carolina owner is hot for him. Will Colbert stay, retire, or move on far another challenge. That really will have a huge impact on which direction the team is going.
