Some people fear reality, or they don't posses the gray matter to drill down into it, and so they remove it from their life when they don't like it. And because they can't discuss reality, they think it's unfair for others to openly talk about it.

 

And some people lack the ability to see anything other than what they want to see.

 

Not "no" but "**** NO!"

Being a fan is about loving and supporting your team no matter what....good or bad. It's not about convincing yourself they are something they are no.

This is why Browns fans have been the dumbest fans in history. They actually believed, for decades, that they were one player away, the NFL hates them, the refs hate them, the Steelers cheat, other teams just got lucky. Like you, they couldn't bring themselves to internalize reality. In their case they were disillusion about everything NFL, in your case, you just can't internalize that the Steelers can have flaws and still be the team we love to support.
