These coaches see Derek Watt in practice every day. You have to earn opportunities. If he is not performing well enough in practice, then he is not going to get a lot snaps during the game. You are right. He hasn't played much. From what I have seen so far, I am not surprised.

glad you are smart enough to make that determination. So he gets to the steelers and suddenly he sucks. I get it

the same coaches watching watt are also watching our receivers dropping pass after pass. What are they seeing in practice that we're not? I refuse to believe that Watt shows up in pittsburgh and suddenly he sucks. You don't have to be done.

I doubt the coaches are trying to sabotage the guys career. I'm not at practice. I'm just saying that he obviously hasn't earned the trust of the coaching staff, otherwise he would be in there more. I havent seen anything good from Watt to this point. He certainly has not been blowing holes open for the running game when he has been in there. These coaches, know these players, far better than any of us.

I wish i had the faith in those guys you do. these are the same coaches playing receivers that can't catch. So I guess i'll just disagree with you

There are so many guys dropping balls right now. You can't sit all of them. There would be no one left.

When I watched Watt last year and then us getting him...I was stoked! I thought...That he would be the best FB we had in a long time...

A FB who could do everything pretty well...Block...AND catch some passes AND a couple runs a game!

How did his skills fall off a cliff after last year? I just have a hard time getting it, or buying it!

I only posted two more times after I said I was done. That's an improvement for me.

I'm almost convinced he goes no where as long as there is a chance for JJ to show up. I mentioned this in another post...why is Thanos Giannakoupolos on the Lakers? He makes less than $100,000 a year. Its not like they haven't met minimum payroll requirements where they have to sign him to get rid of money. I can assure you the moment Giannis signs long term where they have no shot at him Thanos is being dropped like a bad habit. There was no other reason to bring Derek Watt here other than to be a carrot for when JJ's next contract comes up if the Steelers had no intentions of using him. You mean you're giving a special teams guy $3 million dollars??? We're talking about the Steelers here. The organization that doesn't want to pay anybody except the QB. Surely Tomlin discussed with RF what kind of personnel to bring in that he thinks he can use. If RF had no idea how to use Derek Watt (which is basically appearing that way) and yet he still made the team it's the only thing that makes logical sense. Guess what???? JJ Watt's contract is up after this year.

I'm not sure about how other teams roll but the Steelers under Tomlin are cliquesish at times and outsiders have a hard time breaking in. Remember the WR who signed on after Cotchery left and just couldn't get chemistry with Ben. Other guys who have come in and sort of hung around before quietly slipping away. Sometimes no matter how hard you practice or the film you put together you just don't get opportunities.

Jeez you flash and Watt is not on the field. There he comes, there he goes. If you want to place some blame on opportunities you best call out the big uglys up front that are doing just a fine job run blocking  Like said its a cluster&^%$ and needs to change. Time is short.

The coaches have watched all backs in practice, and if that’s Benny Snell ball I want no part of it.

For the LAV OF GAD........Don’t run the same failing play over and over and over.. Try Watt, try anyone. H3ll, run Claypooll for gad sake but never give the opposing D the big Mo!

Based upon their history no, but I wouldn't expect him to ask for anything ridiculous if he wants to play alongside his brothers.

What was his injury? They can slow down a football player for months, even retire them.

Hamstring if memory serves me correctly, that can be a tricky one to come back from, if you do too much too soon you can get re-injured easily. Not an excuse for completely missing your assignments however.

It's turning out to be that way because this coaching staff refuses to use him. I just don't understand why they spent money on a FB when he's never in the game. 5% of the plays is a joke.

Right... Because Ebron has been on the field for many, many snaps...And has screwed up immesuarably...And nothing done to him!

You're right, but surely we can try something different. It's not like we've gotten any results for a while now. We have the worst YPC in the entire league. The Jets run the ball better than we do and they are the worst offence in the league by far.

I don't really care about practice at this point. We've been doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Just maybe it's worth trying something different in the game to see if we get different results. The guys who have apparently been looking good in practice are looking like crap during the game, so why not try a guy who just maybe (in your opinion) hasn't looked good in practice?

Tomlin has always been very stubborn and slow to adjust. I absolutely believe this is just one more example of that

This offense reminds me of the one in "Remember the Titans" where the HC states that they only run a few offensive plays and sooner or later they work (or something like that). We seem to do something similar. Same things over and over but guess what, its usually later than sooner its starts to work if at all. Its like they have a playbook titled, "For Games 1-16" by RF, dated August 2017, revision 1C.

Snell was effective running the ball against Baltimore at the end of the game.
